Fantastic location, blocks from the beach and all restaurants! BBQ was great for cooking and we loved the outdoor bathroom ( shower and toilet), rooms were both a good size with comfy beds but no closet.

Ali, glad you enjoyed your stay. Our short delay in readying the house was due to the fact that the painter took longer than we had expected. Apologize for any inconvenience, it's certainly not the norm.

This was the second time we have stayed here. It was like coming home. Tim met us at the house to let us in, even though it was 11 PM, and had cold beer in the fridge. He was always available throughout the week to answer our questions through email, even though he had to go out …

Tim was excellent at communicating before our arrival and throughout our trip. He was out of town for the holidays during our stay, so his friend Tony met us and let us in when we arrived. Nica doesn't have an address system, but Tim's house was easy to find. We had 5 people stay…

Michelle, glad your family enjoyed Nicaragua and my beach house! Apologize for not letting you know earlier, but the "base allotment" of electrical credit would easily have allowed nightly use of the air conditioner. And for "heavy use" of both a/c units, the average daily cost is only $3-$4. Great that Dec/Jan are the "cooler" times of the year here. I'll look at the burner, not sure why it was slow for your oatmeal.. I've seen it used for large pots of beans no problem :-) Sincerely hope that the five minute visit for the property showing was not an inconvenience. This was scheduled for the day prior to your arrival but a flight cancellation occurred. Viewings are rare: typically only occur once every month or two. We also make every attempt to schedule these in-between tenant stays. While there are numerous transport options to the other area beaches, I'd recommend renting a small SUV next time for a group of your size (5 total). Much more convenient as well. You and family are welcome back anytime!

The house was clean and in town next to all of the shops and restaurants while also being only 2 blocks from the beach. It's very small but was suitable for our needs. You may want to know though if are staying for a few weeks that there is only an outdoor bbq pit to cook on, th…

Chris, Glad to hear that you and your group (4-6) enjoyed your time in SJDS. Being in the center of town offers ease of proximity to all, but it's also a densely populated pueblo in a developing country. With that comes some noise at times. The neighbor's female dog recently had pups, so they have been temporarily tieing the male dog to keep him at a distance. Sorry if this was an inconvenience. Surprises here are never ending: just saw a guy walking two goats down the street yesterday! BBQ - Is a free-standing Char-Broil propane fueled bbq with a side-burner for stove-top cooking. Push-button ignition. Idea is to have the bulk of cooking heat easily disburse outside on the covered patio rather than captured inside of the house. Besides the BBQ, there is also a microwave and toaster oven as well. Electricity is much more expensive in Nica than more developed countries. With two air conditioning units I need to offer incentive for reasonable use. This charge is fully disclosed in the ad along with the stated average of $1-3/night. Your average nightly cost was $2.20; quite decent for having 4-6 occupants during your stay. The house is fully furnished and equipped. It is the responibility of the renter for any damage or missing items. Sorry for the $7 charge for the missing glass and broken toilet handle in the covered garden bathroom (other bathroom is indoors). Both items will truthfully cost more than that to replace; shared responsibility on both sides is very reasonable.
