My place is a five minute walk to Avenida Quinta (Playa del Carmen’s main pedestrian street) and another five minutes to the best beach in town! We are near to all kinds of restaurants (from taco stands to fine dining), bars, bistros, shopping, family-friendly activities and amazing nightlife (from bars to world famous dance clubs). Popular because of location but also because of the ambience of our condo, we are not only gated complex but have on-site 24 hour security. You'll love it here!
Our condo complex marries modern architectural style with traditional Mexican elements. Structurally, it is unique with its wavy balconies and pueblo look. The interior of our particular unit also blends the contemporary (leather sofas, espresso cabinetry, shag carpets, slick pendant lamps, flat panel tv, etc.) with the traditional (brocade drapery, a luxe white crystal chandelier, etc.). You will find contemporary and traditional art throughout. Within the last year, we have made several renovations such as re-tiling all the floors and re-painting all the walls with a custom hand painted marble-like soft grey finish.
Together the effect is eclectic and upscale but at the same time, comfortable. It is an easy space to be in. Both bedrooms are filled with a restful soft daylight and include all linens you might require. The bathrooms have walk-in showers with towels and beach towels supplied. The kitchen has a new French door refrigerator, granite countertops, espresso cabinets, cutlery, glassware and dinnerware as well as several small appliances. We also have a washer and dryer.
The balcony overlooks one of the two pools in the complex. It was tiled last year and is comfortably furnished with a white rattan settee set: a great place to spend the day or evening sipping a margarita - or two.
Our unit and as well as the condo complex itself is clean, well maintained and safe (24 security guards on-site).
All the condos in Margaritas II are condo are rental apartment units. You will be supplied with a key to the front gate as well as one for the apartment door when you arrive. You can come and go as you please. The condo is self catering, meaning no food, meals or services are supplied. (However, the gigantic Mega supermarket is only one block away - as are numerous restauants. Several amazing organic markets, juice/smoothie bars and restaurants are also one or two blocks away.)
Interaction with guests
We are not residents in Playa del Carmen but come to our condo one or two months every year. We decided to rent it out as it stands empty for the other ten months. As such , any contact between us and our guests is limited to the initial rental emails.
However, we have an off-site property manager in Playa who will be able to answer any questions or assist you if a real need arises. Claudio will check you in and out, point out the property rules (which are posted just inside the main gate and at the pool), and solve problems should they occur (such as the blender stopped working, etc.). He is not however a concierge so don’t expect him to arrange tours, etc..
Other things to note
The rental of Margaritas II, B208 is for a maximum of four people and does not include drinking water (available onsite from the care taking staff for approximately US$3.00 per jug) but does include electricity to a maximum of 160 kwh per week for the two week period. There are no further taxes or fees.
Please note that this electricity consumption limit overage only kicks in after you have used 160 kwhs, which is usually more than sufficient for a week if you do not leave the air conditioners or mini-splits turned on day and night, even when you are out of the condo. This is environmentally unsound, clearly.
The Maragaritas II complex has several general rules for guests. Please abide by them as this is not a hotel but for, some owners, their place of residence. The complex rules are posted inside the main gate. They are enforced by the security staff. Among these rules are: NO towels or clothing is to be hung on the balcony railings; no loud noise or music after 11:00 pm; no eating, drinking or smoking IN the pool, however drinks kept on the pool edge are OK; use the footbath and shower at the palapa/gazebo before entering the pool after returning back to the complex from the sandy beach as sand clogs the pool filters. These are all just common sense really.
Our unit, B208, is a non-smoking unit, however smoking on the balcony is permitted.
- Smoking OK on balcony. No noise after 22:00. No towels on railings. No drinks or food in pool.
- Drinking water is avaialble from on-site caretakers at approximately $3.00 per huge jug.
- Rate includes 160 kwh electricity per week. Overages paid at going rate. This amount is more than enough for those renters who do not leave all the air conditioners on day and night or when they are out of the apartment. Let's not be environmentally irresponsible! This is a standard rider for most Playa del Carmen rentals.
