About this listing

Feel the warmth of the San Diego sun, take in the clean Pacific Ocean air and imagine living the California lifestyle as you relax at our chill beach apartment, only steps to the boardwalk, beach and bay.  Like us, you will drift away into a mellow mood gazing at the sunset, best after a beach day or surf.

The space

With a peek-a-boo view of the Pacific Ocean from our window and just steps from the beach, boardwalk and Mission Bay, you'll love winding down in our Chill Beach and Surf Pad.

•One parking space is included in your stay (If you have a car, parking this close to the beach is rare)
•The apartment has a nice open feel and flow
•A nicely equipped and cozy kitchen to make a tasty meal with local San Diego flavors
•There is one bedroom and one person can comfortably sleep on the sofa
•The bedroom contains a work desk and good option for the traveling working professional or if you need to get some things done
•This is a great space ideal for a small group up to 3, couples or individuals looking to be close the beach, surf and what the rest of what Mission Beach and PB has to offer.

***Please note: Our place is located in a great apartment complex but due to the close proximity to the beach, excess sand and water can impact shared common spaces. At times, particularly weekends and after good surf days, sand can be tracked back from beach and some floors may be slippery in the stairwells or halls of the complex. It's no big deal for us and most folks that like living near the beach.

There are some other factors that we can not control in a shared complex, like residents with pets, socialization and common area tiddiness etc. Additionally, If you are a highly noise adverse person (or traveling with someone that is) our place and location is likely not the place for you and you may want to consider options outside of North Mission Beach. Staying here means you will be steps to a busy board walk, on a thin strip of desirable land with only one main road and minimal parking, there is a youthful vibe and even a fair amount construction going on.

Guest access

Guests have access to the entire apartment. As previously noted, parking can be a big problem in Mission Beach, like us, you can enjoy the convenience of having an on site parking spot to go in and out as you want.

There is on-site coin operated laundry in the complex, however we do recommend using a nearby Laundromat, that we prefer.

Interaction with guests

We are available fastest via text and phone. If for some reason we are not in town, we have great local contacts to help!

Other things to note

We kindly ask that all guests please read the entire description before booking. We love our San Diego apartment, its a great place yet, like mosts it is not perfect and not for everyone. We respect that folks have different preferences and worldviews.

If your looking for a unique place and local experience in a great beach town to relax, chill out and rest your head after the beach then the Chill Beach and Surf Pad checks all the boxes. We suggest to "Book Now" as availability does go quick :)

Michael's place is just as described, no more, no less. The apartment has all necessities and you can't beat the location. The parking spot alone is worth the stay. For us it was a perfect place to stay considering we scheduled 48 hours before arriving. We appreciate the consideration Michael. Would certainly love to stay here again.

Michael's place is steps from the beach and in a great area with nice coffee shops, bars, and restaurants. Centrally located between downtown San Diego and La Jolla. Perfect location.

Michael's place was great! Truly a chill surf pad - located 30 seconds off the beach. The apartment was great - had everything we needed, super chill and provided a great "homebase" when we were out being active on the beach. The best part of the stay was Michael's great communication, check-in was a total breeze - we were sending texts to each other, he answered all my questions - no hassles. Super chill - I highly recommend anyone to stay here and enjoy the surf!

We enjoyed our stay at Mike's place. If you want to be near Mission Beach, the location is excellent: 60 seconds of walking, and your toes are in the sand. A friend stayed at a place further away, and said he wished he had chosen a place with a location like ours. The parking spot was a great bonus, and allowed us to venture away from the area without having to consider where we'd park on return. The place was nicely clean, the bed was a very comfortable foam mattress, wi-fi worked well, and the apartment has a cool surfer vibe. I appreciated that the small stereo in the living room had an auxiliary cord all set to go for iPod hookup. Mike and Maria's communication was prompt and friendly, and their directions were great. They also followed up after we left to ask if some items they found were ours (they weren't ours, but I definitely appreciate their checking with us). The apartment was as advertised and pictured, though there are a few easy fixes which would have made the place better for us. The arrival instructions explained to press the key in and forward in the front door lock, but we consistently found it extremely difficult to reliably operate. The bed was very comfortable, but only one of the three pillows was good. And the towels seemed to be on the older and cheaper side (not a problem, but noticeable). What's not easy to fix is there's a fair amount of noise, both from street traffic and street revelers, compounded by needing to keep the windows open for airflow. I had earplugs with me, which did the trick, but do consider that if it's important to you. Overall, it's a reasonable choice in Mission Beach, especially for the prime location and parking, and Mike and Maria's solid communication. Assuming they fix the lock and upgrade the pillows, then it's just a question of how you feel about the nighttime noise.

Response from Michael:
Hi Jeff, thank you for your kind words and glad you enjoyed your stay in Mission Beach. We appreciate feedback like yours and have already replaced the front lock and picked up some fresh pillows. We are glad you mentioned that their is a fair amount of “not easy to fix” noise in the area and we have improved our listing to reflect that point. The reality is we are steps to a busy board walk, on a thin strip of desirable land with only one main road and minimal parking, there is a youthful vibe and even a fair amount construction going on. We respect that different travelers have different preferences and worldviews. We would not describe the noise with the same words as Jeff and have yet to here other guests describe the noise as such. However, if you are a highly noise adverse person (or traveling with someone like this) our place is likely not the place for you and you may want to consider other lodging options outside of North Mission Beach in general. We do recommend to prepare, like Jeff, with earplugs if its not such a big deal but something you want to minimize. Thanks!

I am a active and curious person that loves to travel, enjoy surfing, live by the beach and learn. I think there is something magical about being in coastal regions so I like to spend a lot of my time there. I hope you do to!

With interest in coastal living and experience in real estate investing, my girlfriend, Maria - who helps host, and I decided to get ourselves into a project. We decided to renovate a bungalow in the Outer Banks of North Carolina to restore its beauty and charm. We knew we would spend time there with our family and friends, because we love the area, but did not realize how much our guests would like it or the impact it could have for them.

We have had so much fun and become very passionate about creating outstanding guest stays, unique experiences and making more of an impact. Since our first bungalow we have grown to cover both coasts and add more places to stay.

My favorite time of year in the OBX is the fall when the weather is beautiful, the fishing is great, crowds are down and the surfs up.

As a host: I am super easy going, I do travel a lot for work yet do have great people to help.

As a guest: Super laid back and low maintenance

Favorite Destinations: California, Baja Mexico, Guancaste Costa Rica, Spain, Peru, Long Island NY, Outer Banks NC, San Diego.

Things I could not live without:
1. Good friends and family relationships
2. A beach house, grill, fireplace and surfboards
