Great location

You will enjoy our little place if you like to be out in the country but still close to the city. There is a comfy double bed, an ensuite shower room and a little kitchenette (in the connecting laundry) so you can make a snack. Tea and freshly ground coffee is provided in your room.

You will be self-contained and can park outside your door.

There are two acres of paddocks and gardens with friendly farm animals for you to meet and native birds galore.

Three cafes and a pub close by -enjoy!

The space
Your space is separate from our house in a Kiwi style sleep-out attached to the garage. It has a light and airy, well insulated double bedroom with comfy bed and an ensuite with high pressure shower, washbasin and toilet. There is a small desk and WIFI if you need workspace.

There is a selection of teas and freshly ground coffee in your room so you can make yourself a hot drink. Enjoy it in your room or anywhere on the property that you wish. The ponies love it if you have morning tea with them!

Attached to your room, through a lockable door, is the adjoining garage with a little kitchenette which has a microwave, bar fridge, toaster and basic crockery and cutlery. So if you bring provisions you can make a snack.

We have two acres of paddocks and gardens for you to enjoy and there is a terrace with seats outside your room.

Feel free to wander in the paddocks and gardens and see how many different native birds you can spot. Chat to the ponies, feed the alpacas, sheep, chickens and ducks and help yourself to some fruit, vegies and herbs when in season. Most importantly relax and enjoy!

If you are bringing your stock friendly pet we can provide a fenced exercise area, old towels for muddy paws, feed bowls and pet bedding. Other livestock can come too, please ask for details.

Where you’ll be

Ashhurst, Manawatu-Wanganui, New Zealand

Ashhurst village is about 4kms away and has a charming rural character. It's the gateway to the Manawatu scenic route which takes you through the beautiful Pohangina Valley. The famous Manawatu Gorge is just down the road as are the river and wetlands. Our visitors usually enjoy a drive up to the Wind Farm with a stop for coffee and a browse in the antique shops in Woodville on the way home.
If you need a city fix, Palmerston North is only 15 minutes away by car and although it's a small city it has theatres, art galleries, Te Manawa museum and the Rugby Museum as well many good restaurants and cafes.
The town of Feilding, home of Manfeild Raceway, is also a 15 minute drive away. It holds a weekly farmers market with guided tours through the stock sale yards. Known as 'Friendly Feilding' it really does live up to its name.
The Herb Farm cafe is in walking distance, about 2kms and opens at 10am for brunch and lunch.

I'm passionate about my animals and my gardens. I love junk, auctions and turning 'trash in treasure'. I'm happiest when I have my hand on a horse but I also enjoy baking and preserving our home grown produce, meeting friends at one of the local cafes for coffee and walking our miniature horses at the Domain.
