Escape the city for a weekend in the country, perhaps enjoy some golf at one of the best courses in the Waikato, experience Hampton Downs or maybe visit Raglan, Thames or Kaiaua for the day .

Our place is close to the Waikato Expressway, 7 mins from Hampton Downs, 30 mins to Hamilton and less than 1 hour to Auckland (off peak.)
The unit is self-contained and private with breakfast ingredients provided.

The space
We share our place with our two cats Muffin and Crosbie, 2 Alpacas _Levi and Diego and six hens who lay lovely eggs. If the hens are laying you may get fresh farm eggs for breakfast.

In the summer you are welcome to swim in our small lap pool, wander around our garden or go for a walk in the countryside. The beautiful Waikare golf course is close by and welcomes green fee players.

The bedsit is quite self contained and separate from the main house. Continental breakfast ingredients supplied. Kitchen contains microwave, frig, toaster and electric jug. No oven , cooktop or pots and pans.

Your unit is a compact one room self-contained bedsit with kitchenette and ensuite bathroom, separate from our house. A microwave, electric jug and toaster are provided.
Please note Te Kauwhata does not have high speed broadband yet.

Other things to note
Please note the kitchenette does not contain a full stove and oven with pots and pans.
Sometimes you can hear the trains passing by in the night about 1 km away.

Te Kauwhata is a small country village with a hotel which serves meals plus three cafes. There is a grocery shop, petrol station, chemist and hairdresser plus other shops and services. Hamilton is about 1 hour south and Auckland 1 hour north on the Expressway. Raglan, Thames and the Coromandel beaches about 1 hour also.

Rangiriri which serves great country meals at the hotel is just 5 minutes south and Huntly with the Hakarimata walkway, steam train and Coalfields Museum is 15 minutes drive. Nikau caves and café are 30 minutes drive west to this spectacular natural feature. Bookings required for cave trip. Lakes Waikare and Whangape are close by as is the Waikato River for walks, drives and aquatic activities. Hampton Downs motor racing track is 7 mins away by car.

My husband and I like to play golf and travel when we are not keeping our large property tidy. My personal interest is also in protecting and promoting the heritage of the Waikato District.
