The space
What a crazy world right now!

My original post listed all the wonderful things about the apartment – things that made it feel so homely and welcoming – but now we open with all the things that make the place safe and as COVID-secure as possible.

So first :(

Rules are continually changing with respect to groups and gatherings and so on and by booking with us you are agreeing that your party will be abiding by the latest government rules and guidelines.

And secondly - our cleaning routine! We now follow Airbnb’s enhanced cleaning protocol, which was developed with expert guidance and it means our cleaning policy is EXTREMELY strict. All carpets and rugs have been removed in the apartment and the flooring throughout is cushioned vinyl, easily cleaned with antibacterial soaps.

On change over days:

All handles, switches, remotes, taps, plugs, door jambs, counters and surfaces are cleansed with antibacterial spray. Sofas and chairs are all covered and these covers are removed and washed along with all bed and bath linen at high temps. Mattresses and other soft furnishings are disinfected with antibacterial sprays between stays.

Sadly, many of the touches that made the apartment feel like home from home have been removed in order to keep our guests as safe as possible – currently, there are just a few books and the toys are only those that can safely be disinfected and the throws and cushions have been put away.

However, apart from our obsession with cleaning and hygiene, there are still many positives about the apartment.
If you enjoy movies we have Amazon prime firestick which also has Netflix loaded so there’s no shortage of great films to watch. There's also Freeview.

The well-equipped kitchen dining area is new and should have everything you might need, including a dishwasher, oven, fridge and freezer.

There are two bedrooms to choose from. A double with a king-size bed and a twin room with two single beds. All beds have down duvets. Linen and towels are provided. However, if you wish to bring your own linen (duvets/towels etc) we completely understand and will remove £10 off the cleaning fee.

The bathroom has a shower or bath option so you can enjoy whichever you fancy. The water is from a combi boiler so short of a disaster you won’t run out of hot water.

The flat is completely private with two entrances (a fire safety feature) both with lockable doors. The entryway is communal and we ask everyone to remove their shoes at the front door for the sake of health and hygiene and store these upstairs in the apartment.
You'll find us a short walk from the train station (about 5 minutes) and about a 2-minute walk from the nearest bus stop.

With regards grocery shopping the flat is an easy walk from the nearest Sainsbury's (just past the train station) – about 6 minutes away. Aldi is nearer to an 8 to 9-minute walk, past the beautiful Ashton Gardens park.

There are a number of excellent restaurants nearby, many of which are happy to deliver, but hopefully many will soon be back to business as usual.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me (Jen), or Andrea, our wonderful house manager who looks after the apartment.

We are offering a no contact check-in but if you prefer a personal check-in then ask, as Andrea may be on hand to show you into the apartment and tell you what is what. She will be wearing a mask and we request that guests also wear them on check-in and whilst in the communal areas as per government guidelines.

Guest access
Your rooms are on the middle floor and completely private.

Other things to note
Please, please note.

We get many requests from guests for early check-in or late check-out.

Unfortunately, COVID has made this a nightmare for us because, while we genuinely like to be as accommodating as possible the cleaning protocols, set in place by law make this impossible. An hour is needed after previous guests check out before the cleaners can enter the apartment, they then undertake four hours of rigorous cleaning. Then there's a final hour, after the cleaners have left, where the apartment must remain empty. Which means, legally, we can not accommodate early or late arrivals and departures.

So, it's with huge apologies (but hopefully you understand why) we can't accommodate early arrival or late departure unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Parking can sometimes be tricky but it's free and you don't need a permit.

We are fortunate in St Anne's to have some amazing restaurants catering to all sorts of tastes. We have the most beautiful beach, which when the tide is out stretches for miles and miles. There is a public swimming pool, cinema, pier, park and countless other activities on offer.

We are also near Blackpool which has so much on offer to do it would be impossible to list them all but to name but a few we have: Theatre, water parks, theme parks, Blackpool tower, Tussauds, the Dungeons, Sealife and a whole lot more.

I've extremely fortunate to be able to travel as much as I do and have just come back from a wonderful month long trip in South America where we stayed in a lot of Airbnb's. As a host it was an invaluable experience as we very soon noticed what made life easy for us as guests and I have tried to adopt the practices that made our various stays so enjoyable and learn from the ones that weren't! It's funny how the small things make such a difference like having tea and coffee and fresh milk when you arrive, having hand soap in washbasin, dish soap at the kitchen sink. having some basics in the larder cupboard (buying salt and oil and those sorts of things got old pretty fast :) ) Anyway, hopefully you won't have to worry about those sorts of things here! As for me personally I'm a chef and an author, I have two adult children and a foster daughter. I'm like to think that I am easy going, helpful and friendly. The weirdest thing about me is I used to be a fire eater in a circus (MANY years ago now!) The best thing about me is trying to go the extra mile to make people happy The worst thing about me - (ouch) - being restless, being untidy and thinking that people automatically know what I'm thinking so leaving half of what I mean to say, unsaid. What I love doing - reading, writing, photography, art, cooking What I hate doing - paperwork Three things I can't live without. My kindle, my computer, my camera Three things I hate: Bigotry, inability to believe that someone else could be right, cruelty. When I travel I like to meet new people, talk and get to know a little bit about them. I spent a number of years running ski chalets in the French Alps and absolutely loved it. My life motto is: If it's important to you, you'll find a way. If not, you'll find an excuse.

She is a very experienced host and has lived in the area for a number of years and is happy to help with local information and advice.
