Fun and Relaxation on One of Maine’s Best Beaches
Our stay at this newly-updated Maine beach house was the perfect escape for our young family of four. The rooms were spacious and comfortable (we could have easily fit another family with us), perfect for lounging, reading, playing games, and stretching out after a day on the beach. The kitchen is fully updated, with a new fridge and a new, highly efficient electric stove. There are ample supplies, and even more ample counter space, for preparing and enjoying meals (a two-minute drive from the house will get you to Hannaford’s). There’s a warm, well-lit sun-room with cozy seating, and a backyard where our kids played Frisbee and sifted through the treasures they found on the beach.
The beach is less than a block away at the end of a quiet side street. At high tide, you’ll encounter waves crashing against the seawall and shooting spray into the air, and at mid to low tide, a wide stretch of cool sand. The beach isn’t crowded, and gives plenty of access for sunbathers and swimmers, and there are lots of amazing tide-pools filled with sea life and a variety of beautifully textured and patterned rocks. A short walk down the beach (or the street at high tide), and you’ll find yourself in a small, cute town center, complete with fried seafood, ice-cream, and a great arcade.
Within ten-minutes driving distance, there’s a range of great antique shops, some good pizza places, and the Wells Reserve at Laudholm, offering great access to open woods, fields, and beach. And don’t miss out on Congdon’s doughnuts, offering rich, delicious doughnuts, only a three-minute drive from the beach house!
The owners were gracious, accommodating, and responsive.
If you’re looking for a comfortable, clean, private family getaway with opportunities to relax and enjoy the glorious Maine coast, this is an excellent way to do it!
