About this listing
Our resource centre is a 15 minute drive to Eldoret International Airport. Runners will have access to some of the best high altitude training opportunities in the world. Guests can also volunteer in the community in areas of education, agriculture, water resources, health care, engineering, science, and the trades. The Rift Valley Resource Centre is good for couples, solo adventurers, and groups. Please contact us for discount group rates.
Meeting people from all over the world, becoming friends with local runners, teachers and business people, and truly living in community are the benefits of staying at the centre. We have hot showers, flush toilets, and a night watchman, as well as onsite cooks and housekeepers for your meals and laundry. Guests can be as social or solitary as they wish, depending on room arrangements.
Guests will have access to the Tiki bar- our camp hub where meals are served, electrical devices can be charged, music and games are played, and general meetings are held there too! A new addition to the Tiki bar is a hand built pizza oven. Pizza, bread, and other goodies are cooked in our beautiful oven. Guests also have access to separate men's or women's showers and flush toilets. In our housing complex there is a small but effective gym, hammocks, couches, cots, tables, and space for yoga.
Interaction with guests
Our camp manager lives on site and speaks excellent English. All of our staff are from the area and can give you help with booking excursions, transportation to the small town of Mosoriot where you can buy any basic supplies, or longer excursions to the city of Eldoret, Kisumu and beyond. We also have a few sturdy bicycles available for guests to use.
Other things to note
This is a very quiet location nestled in between small family farms. You will see the occasional cow walking through the yard, as well as a sheep or chicken from time to time! We have a beautiful garden where many of our vegetables and herbs used in the meals are grown. Because of our altitude, zero light pollution, and remote location, the star gazing is some of the best you will ever experience. We have a good hand pump water filter on site, but many guests choose to buy large jugs of bottled water for convenience sake. As in many places in remote Kenya, we do not recommend drinking water straight from the tap.
