This a very special and beautiful house circle by a lake and a river. But the most impressed is the hoster's careful, considerable hospitality to the guest. It is really true as what they put in front of their house that "Come as a guest, leave as a friend". I think we are a good friend now. A few remarks for your impression. 1. Very rich and delicious breakfast. 2. Provide you with all the information you needs, even though sometimes you haven't think about it yourselves. 3. Tell you a lot about the history and information about Algonquin and the relative nature. 4. Take you to a boat ride on the lake enjoy the beauty of the lake and the house. 5. Provide all kind of help you need. Another reminder: you need to book fast, or their rooms will be fully booked.

This was an amazing experience. Sandra and Dale are terrific hosts and welcomed us in their homes with so much energy. We did come a bit late commutting from the city and they were very understanding. The log home is beautiful and very open. The exposure to nature both inside and outside the home was wonderful. They shared their experiences building the home and also guiding us for exploring Algonquin. We got a chance to go on a boat trip from their place and it was quite something.

Sanda and Dale were hugely welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Their house is impressive and they have a wonderful dock at the back onto the lake where you can swim, kayak or canoe. Dale was keen to give us a Canadian canoeing lesson and a boat trip. The breakfasts were generous and delicious. We drove 45 mins to the main entrance of Algonquin Park and did a day of hiking there which was great. We were able to use the BBQ and watch stars at night. Sandra and Dale are also very knowledgeable about the area and genuine and warm people. Thank you for having us!

Dale and Sandra gave us the time of our lives at their beautiful house. Every aspect of our stay was thoroughly considered by them and our visit was unimprovable. It would only be a slight exaggeration to say that they redefined the role of a host. Nothing else will ever compare! The house itself was largely their own creation, after finding the perfect spot Dale and Sandra pretty much built the place themselves. During the two days of our stay we canoed, swam, hiked, sang round the campfire, learnt a lot about the area and the wildlife, and ate and drank very well. We are working out dates for our next visit already. Everything was perfect about our stay there, but what really stood out was our hosts genuine warmth and enthusiasm. Thanks Dale and Sandra and see you soon!

Thank you Sandra and Dale for a lovely time at your beautiful cottage. Dale was sure to make us feel at home with a tour of the property and home when we arrived. Sandra made a delicious breakfast for both mornings we stayed - better than any restaurant! Dale was knowledgeable about all the local Algonquin trails and gave us great advice on how we should spend our time in the park. Hope to be back again for another visit :)

Sandra and her husband Dale were fantastic hosts. The Log Home B & B is simply a gorgeous home, made warm by such kind hosts. Sandra and Dale, having put enormous amounts of work into building and maintaining the house are both kind and caring hosts as well as exceedingly knowledgeable. If interested, they will show you around the home, the nearby lakes and river and describe in detail how such a magnificent home was built. The level of knowledge and care that Sandra and Dale provide makes them perfect to have a B&B in such a remote location. Regarding the location itself, I would return in a heart beat. It's just outside the town of Kearney, and represents exactly what anyone going up north is after. There's water surrounding the house, with a 'beach' area and a dock. Between the available water sports and space for swimming, anyone should be able to find what they are after. Aside from the water, the house is surrounded by luscious woods, that maintain privacy and accentuate the beauty of the area. The home itself is quite large, and offers all the amenities that any family could ask for. From a fireplace, to a barbecue to a games room and table tennis, horse shoes, etc. Finally, for those that want some more adventure, Algonquin park is a 10 minute drive away, and the main entrance to the park is about 30-45 minutes away. Additionally, there are numerous craft breweries along the way to the cottage and many quaint markets offering what ever could be required. In my opinion, the most direct summary is this: We would return in a heart beat, and have been suggesting it to friends interested in a trip up north. All the best, Dan

Sandra and Dale don’t simply offer accommodation, they offer an unparalleled experience. Their heart-warming welcome, their immediate interest in our well-being, their willingness to show us a good time, are just a few of the things we are grateful for. Sandra and Dale are travellers, of space and of the soul. We are lucky to have taken part in their journey, even if it was for two days only. Their home is probably unlike any other you have seen, most literally, a cabin built with individual logs, sitting next to the beautiful lake. We got to ride their boat on the lake, with Dale as captain and storyteller. We had amazing breakfasts, prepared by the hosts themselves, with family recipes and artful compilations. We sat in front of the fireplace and exchanged experiences, drinking cognac and whiskey. They treated our two-year old son as theirs and catered to his needs, especially Sandra, when we needed a break. They gave us advice for every question we had, especially about Algonquin park, our initial destination. And in the end we departed with hugs and handshakes, hopefully to meet again. The question therefore is not whether Sandra and Dale’s is a place to visit, but how you can make it happen as soon as possible.

Sandra User ProfileSandra is a superhost.

I am from Kearney, Ontario, a mother of 3, grandmother of 5. Myself and my husband, Dale, run the B&B together. We have one of the loveliest spots to experience the Algonquin Area, so our guest are often friends by the time they leave. We love the outdoors, walking, golfing, fishing, swimming. We also rent our entire home when we travel.
