We had a terrific few days at Carter and Johnny's place. The location right on the water was perfect for exploring the island, or for staying out and going for a swim off the dock. The setup is perfect for a family, and Carter and Johnny are wonderful hosts.

Meeting Carter and Johnny was the best part of our week in MV. They exude southern hospitality, & genuine warmth...qualities in rare supply in that part of the country. This home is best suited for folks who understand that this is not the Ritz, so don't expect a snooty, ultra luxe situation. But it is a homey and relaxing place to stay, if that's your thing. I traveled with kids, and it was right up our alley. It's a good location around the corner from Vineyard Haven, but Oak Bluffs just is 5-10 minutes away by car. The bus system is great, and the hosts are gracious enough to give you a lift in a pinch. The dock/pier situation out back is unbeatable! I loved having coffee every morning looking out over the water, watching the boats and ferries. You MUST try their outdoor shower, and take advantage of swimming off their private pier. If you are a cook, you might miss having kitchen privileges. But for the convenience of being so close to the Vineyard Haven downtown, it's an ok trade off. I was initially nervous about strangers staying in one of the 3 available bedrooms ( I rented the other 2), but it all worked out. Carter keeps the place clean and greets you each morning with coffee and the best muffins. And both will go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. I miss them already!

Just on island for a weekend, staying with Carter and Johnny was a delight! They communicated with us splendidly and guided us right to the front door. After a brief tour, we relaxed on the dock taking in the sights and sounds of the water. We were looking for a different experience than a single room hotel. We certainly found it.... With access to the dock, porch, outdoor shower, swimming, etc! Would certainly come back! Thank you!

So I just planned a wonderful 40th birthday get-away for a friend at Station No. 7 (Carter's place). There were four of us in total and we all loved our time there! Here are two detailed reviews from my friends: From the Birthday Girl: This quaint ocean cottage is a wonderful Martha's Vineyard getaway--perfectly tranquil and relaxing. More importantly, the owners, Carter and Johnny, are the perfect hosts--extraordinarily kind, generous, hospitable and helpful. The outdoor shower, with beautiful mahogany finish and hot and cold water, is a must. The location is centrally located to Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven, but nestled in a quiet neighborhood away from the crush of tourists. For those looking for a quiet respite in close proximity to what's happening on the Vineyard, this cottage is the place! It's difficult to make a vacation rental feel like home, but Carter and Johnny make their cottage a place you won't easily want to leave. Friend: Carter and Johnny welcomed us in at Station No. 7, and made us feel right at home. We were there for a "girls weekend" so we were on the go a lot, but Carter was there to share information on the sites to see, places to shop, and locations for good eats. Johnny keeps the house in ship shape and provides his own unique brand of humor and fun. Located in Oak Bluffs, and conveniently near Edgartown and Vineyard Haven, the house sits right on the water, and Carter makes the best coffee in town (IMHO). Wake up and enjoy your morning cup of coffee and a pastry during sunrise and be lulled to sleep on the porch by the waves. If you are looking for luxury accommodations, find a hotel! But for warm hospitality, Station No. 7 is the place to go.

We had a wonderful weekend stay with Carter at her beautiful place by the water. It was so nice to be able to hear the waves at night and to wake up with a view of the dock. Carter was a very welcoming host and waited for us outside even when we arrived late from the ferry. She also drove us to the bike rental place in Vineyard Haven so we wouldn't have to walk and gave a ton of great recommendations for food and sightseeing in the area. Carter and her husband Johnny have a lot of knowledge about MV, so definitely ask them where to go! Breakfast was also lovely, with homemade blueberry and banana muffins that you could eat outside in front of the water. Carter was considerate enough to make a nut-less version of her delicious muffins for my sister when she found out about her allergies. I would recommend trying out the outdoor shower for a really relaxing experience. Hope to be back soon!
