Rent this two bedroom one bath home on a private road at the base of Lucky Jim Bluff in the picturesque Methow Valley of Washington State. Just a few miles east of the Mazama junction, this architectually unique 1500 sq. ft. home sits on 7 secluded acres. No pets please
In the Winter, guests at Lucky Jim will have access to the nations largest cross-country ski area. The Methow Valley Sports Trails Association (MVSTA) has developed and maintains hundreds of kilometers of groomed nordic ski trails throughout the Methow Valley. You can literally ski out the door of the cabin and connect to the MVSTA trails. You can take a short ski (about 3.5 miles) to the northwest and stop for a hot bowl of soup and espresso at the Mazama Store. Head in the opposite direction and you are less than 1/2 mile to Wesola Polana (the Rolling Huts) and Kellys restaurant.
In the warmer months, you have miles and mile of hiking, swimming, river rafting, horseback riding, mountain and rock climbing and mountain biking right at your door.
With advance notice I can help you book guides or help plan your activities based on your particular interest.
This area is teeming with wildlife. Two species of deer, black bear, cougar, coyotes, rabbits, weasels, mink, marten, marmots, wild turkeys and many more have been seen while lounging in a chair on the front deck.
Guests will have control of the whole house. This is my residence as well. Please respect my privacy by staying out of my workshop & sheds unless I have given you prior approval to do so. There are many dangerous tools & hazardous items especially for unsupervised children.
Interaction with guests
Sometimes I'm in the local area and can stop by to answer questions. I am always available by phone and provide assistance or arrange for help when needed.
Other things to note
I do not have internet access at this time but many of the stores and coffee shops in Winthrop offer WiFi. Verizon cell service is pretty good in Mazama so if your carrier is Verizon, you can often use your phone or Ipad as a hotspot.
No pets. No smoking in my home please. Please return key to key box when leaving ($75 charge for lost or missing key)
Most items can be recycled in the black bins on the back porch. Please put all bottles, cans, plastic containers, and paper in those bins with the lids closed tightly when you leave. Your garbage must be taken out to the end of the road (by Highway 20) and deposited in the grey Wast Wise container with "Sanders" written on top for pick up. Do not unplug or remove the Bell & Howell pest monitors that are plugged into the electrical outlets throughout the house.
Due to high fire danger, no fires of any kind are allowed from June-end of September. Under no circumstances should you drive any vehicle off of the graveled road or drive/ parking areas. If you have moved furniture around in my house, please return it to the original location prior to leaving. Please turn off all lights, close all windows and drapes, and lock all the doors when departing.
I am an avid outdoors person who also loves big city adventures. I am fortunate enough to have a job that allows me to split my time between Seattle & Mazama. Things I like: spending time with my "girls", flyfishing, bad cinema, alternative music/radio, taco trucks & real southern BBQ. When I have the opportunity to travel I enjoy trips to Central America.
