Experience eco-friendly living in this unique straw bale cottage with a living green roof, wood burning stove and woodland garden.
On cold rainy days it is warm and cosy sitting round the fire. In the heat of summer it is wonderfully cool and restful.
A rural retreat on the edge of woodland and open fields, it's surrounded by birdsong and bounded by the Cotswold Way footpath. Yet in just ten minutes drive you are in the beautiful Georgian city of Bath.
The space
The house was lovingly built with local natural materials and a bespoke design for our family to live in and is now a luxurious holiday cottage.
The View: climb the steps to the woodland garden and you are looking over your own roof at the stunning view, on a clear day this stretches all the way over the river Severn into Wales.
We provide pure cotton bed linen and towels. Duvet and pillows are feather and down.
Tea, coffee, herb teas, olive oil, salt and pepper are provided. A bottle of filtered water and a jug of milk will be in the fridge, this is usually raw, farm-gate whole Jersey milk delivered by a local farmer.
Holistic treatments: we offer relaxing and nurturing reflexology and massage treatments onsite, by prior arrangement, in the warmth and comfort of your ‘home’.
In this rural retreat where you can only hear birdsong and the wind in the trees, it is easy to forget that you are just ten minutes drive away from the centre of the beautiful, historic Georgian city of Bath with all the culture, history and shopping it offers.
With spectacular views for miles, on a clear day all the way to Wales, the location borders the Cotswold Way.
It is ideal for walking, or for sitting enjoying the view! The sky features prominently in our lives here on the top of a hill; we have beautiful sunsets and on clear nights a panoramic view of the stars.
Guest access
You will be met upon arrival and shown into the property. Designated parking space for one vehicle available. Directions and details will be provided in booking confirmation.

My name is Rosalind. I love living on this hillside with the views and the ancient coppiced woodland that borders our property. On the other side is a conservation area where cowslips and wild orchids grow. Living on the border of these two habitats we have a wide range of birds. We enjoyed making this space; I like how the grass and wildflower roof helps the building blend into the countryside. When you get here can you spot the kitten footprints sun-baked into the Spanish terracotta floor tiles? “I like to share this lovely place with people, I hope everyone will benefit in some way from the natural surroundings and peaceful atmosphere. We are here to do what we can to give you a truly great time and hope you will have an enjoyable, relaxing or inspirational stay.”
