With secure off road parking this 5 bedroom sunny house is set away from the road. This listing is for 1 double room with a comfortable queen bed. (2 Other rooms listed as Sea change 2 and 3). Guests share the main bathroom and I have my own. Downstairs games room and large enclosed garden. Just 2 minutes walk to the beach with amazing bird life or up into bush with river swimming holes. Or a 20 minute walk into the historical township of Thames.

The space
Located on the sea side of the main road, not road side though and 3 back from the beach. This is a large house with two lounges, upstairs is spacious and private with views of the bush and sunsets. There are glimpses of the sea, a elevated, tropical feeling and comfortable furniture.

Downstairs is set up like a games room with a pool table, table tennis, dart board, comfortable couches and there is a great lawn for croquet. Both the upstairs deck and the ground level have covered outdoor living spaces for BBQ cooking etc. There is also a downstairs fridge for food that you might have and undercover washing lines for overnight drying.

Guest access
This house has a shared driveway, please take the middle one. Once here you are free to use the outside covered deck, the main lounge, kitchen and downstairs lounge/games room. A spare fridge downstairs is just for guest use and there is an extra toilet downstairs.

Other things to note
See Sea change 2 and Sea change 3 for the other bedrooms. This allows for larger groups to stay of up to 6 people. Each room has large wardrobes, a fan, extra bedding, electric blanket and heater.

I work in real estate and am sometimes on duty from 8.15 am or have to work late. If you are arriving early I can meet you at my work place in town and give you a key. Or if you are departing after I have left I am happy to leave breakfast needs out for you to self cater. Please respect my right to meet you first prior to these arrangements.

Location

Thames, Waikato, New Zealand

Thames is the gate way to the Coromandel and a great place to start exploring. This historical town highlights its gold mining history and has a lot of choices in ethnic restaurants and great cafe's. The rail trail begins just 5 minutes down the road and there are some great walking tracks everywhere and even one which start just behind this home.

In a 15 minute walk you can go from enjoying the huge numbers of sea birds on the coast to being in the bush walking past mine entrances and rivers with swimming holes. A 15 minute drive will take you to a lovely 2 hour return walk to a kauri grove which reminds me of the movie Avatar.

Hi I am a social person who loves to travel, scuba dive, fish, garden, a bit of a DIY home renovator and learning photography. I have lived in Thames for 4 years now and am still finding fun things to do in the area. My grown up children are away at uni or working so I have time and space to enjoy other people. I love meeting people from all walks of life and learning other perspectives so bought a large home to share. I often head to the Tropics to find a great place to dive, the last few trips included Solomon Islands, Fiji and Niue and last year I went to Portugal. I work in Real Estate and I have random days of being on the duty desk, plus I host Japanese students so I really appreciate people who can let me know what time they plan on arriving so I can fit everything in along with some walks or swims. I was born in Kenya although I have been a "Kiwi" for most of my adult life. My mission in life is to keep learning about holistic health, nutrition and wellness. I have qualifications in these fields and am happy to share my knowledge with anyone who is interested. I keep a clean house and trust my natural immunity. This is a quiet neighborhood and the house elevated so there is a feeling of space, privacy, palm trees, sunsets and star gazing.

During your stay
I will be around for the most part either with some work during the day or I will be on a mission to explore and find fun things to do. Just recently found great walk in a very old grave yard while admiring the view and nesting sea birds. If you love a refreshing river swim there are huge deep holes with waterfalls and high diving spots just up the road.
