Inspiring place. Friendly and generous host. Lovely herb garden and grapevine. Only nature sounds surround. Beautiful valley and mountain views towards the sunset. Cows, horses and sheep grazing in neighbouring paddocks. A friendly puppy on the property. We were warmly welcomed and settled in. Neil invited us to breakfast in his earthship-type house on a lazy Sunday morning - inpiring for any sustainable and conscious living types, super stylish! Superior produce supplied for breakfast with locally roasted coffee and homemade museli , and some fresh produce from the garden was a bonus to use in our lunch. Gas cooker and filtered rain water in the kitchen. The place is off the grid but has excellent power supply and wifi connection, including a great sound system. We often had warm baths in the big corner tub. Candles and mood lighting gave a romantic atmosphere. On cold nights we heated the cabin with the rocket wood fired heater. Also a nice selection of books to browse and some comfy beanbags to hang out on. The only not so great things were the limited lighting in the bedroom for night/early mornings (lovely natural light during the day), and the washing machine was out of action which was no problem for us as we only stayed a week, and there is a good laundromat in town if needed. Highly recommended particularly if you are a nature loving ecowarrior who likes a bit of comfort and quiet.

Neil was such a great host - he made us an amazing hearty breakfast each morning complete with delicious raglan roast coffee and was very responsive even throughout our stay. His place is a perfect off-the-grid escape to experience the countryside of raglan while still being 20 min from town. We were able to experience the town and surf during the day, and beautiful scenic sunsets in the evening. I would definitely stay here again.

If you are looking for a nature stay with a great host, this is your place! A very wisly DIY made bach, surrounded by nature, in an eco freindly way of life. Don't be surprised with the bathroom using rain water and dry toilets since everything is smartly done, clean and respecflull with the surrounded nature. Morover, Neil is a great host (do not miss the breakfast! Soo yum !), freindly and patient with his citizen french guests. . :). A great thanks Neil ! We had a lovely time at your place, will come back !

We really enjoyed our stay at Neil's place. The nature, especially sundowns, around the house is beautiful. You have everything you need and Neil is an awesome dude. Just a 15min drive to Raglan town. Definitely the place to stay for everyone who doesn't need a 5 star motel!
