My house is a perfect place to spend a weekend in Houston. Within five blocks there are three great bars (try the happy hour at Julep), a fantastic coffee shop, a taco truck, three amazing burger places, fine dining, and walking/biking trails along Buffalo Bayou Park. And you're only a 15 min walk to downtown and mass transit that can get you to and from the Super Bowl with ease.
You'll love my home because it's convenient, historic, and comfortable.
In the historic Sixth Ward neighborhood, our house was built in the early 1800s and retains original details like hardwood floors, large wooden shuttered windows, and shiplap walls, but was recently updated to include modern amenities, including granite countertops, a gas stove, and washer/dryer. The space is bright and comfortable. We have a large flatscreen TV in the living room with cable, Netflix, HBO, and DVR. Find an extensive assortment of books and board games on the office/second bedroom bookcase. The backyard and front porch are pleasant areas to enjoy Houston's mild winter. The bathroom has an iron claw foot tub. The master bedroom has a queen bed; the sofa in the living area folds out to a queen bed; and the second bedroom/office sofa folds out to bed slightly narrower than a full bed.
Guests have access to the entire home and outdoor space, our TV and internet, books and games, and our driveway (which can park three vehicles). Help yourself to anything in the fridge and feel free to use our pots, pans, and basics like spices and olive oil.
