STABLE COTTAGE near Glendalough
is part of an original 18th cent. farm courtyard lovingly converted and winner of Irish television's "Home of the Year" 2018. Situated 6 km from Glendalough and surrounded by hiking trails it is the home of artist Patrick Walshe and his wife Rosalind. Set back from a quiet country road, 4km from the villages of Laragh and Rathdrum, 1 hr from Dublin, it is ideal for exploring this beautiful part of Ireland. Enjoy relaxing in the garden also. Own transport needed.

The space
Perfect as a rural retreat, for hiking the mountains, or even as a base for exploring Dublin and the Southeast if you come from overseas. A friendly, cozy, country experience with a wood burning stove and exceptional comfort. A lot of thought has gone into the renovation, making this a special place to relax. Unfortunately not suitable for children under 12.

Guest access
The Stable is separate from the Walshe’s traditional Irish home, but has a common driveway and courtyard. Relax in the garden or sit by the fish pond in the rose courtyard (weather permittting!). We welcome you to share our rural haven surrounded by sheep fields, trees and birdsong.

Other things to note
We have two very friendly dogs, Jellybean and Popeye, but please leave your pets at home as we are surrounded by sheep fields and chasing the sheep does not go down well with the farmers !
Our water comes from our own well and is the most delicious mountain beverage, straight from the tap!!!
There is also a gas fired barbeque for the chef!
