This room is the bottom floor of a two story apartment. We occupy the top floor and rent out the bottom floor. The bottom floor has it's own private entrance where guests can come and go freely. The full private bathroom is included within the spacious room and is exclusively for the guest/guests.

The room stays naturally cool during the summer. Heat is included during the winter months.

Queen size bed comfortably sleeps two. I also provide a queen or single size air mattress for additional guests.

Plenty of closet and shelf space, and convenient access to laundry in the building.

Also included in the room:
A small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, iron, ironing board, blow dryer, clean towels and sheets.

We love calling the upper east side home! The neighborhood is rich in history and is nestled between Central Park and East River Park - great for runs and picnics. The area is packed with cafes, coffee shops, and restaurants. It is also conveniently located to Madison Avenue and Bloomingdales for shopping. Although you’re in the city that never sleeps, our neighborhood is quiet and peaceful, so you won’t have a problem getting a good night’s rest after a long day exploring the city.

Our apartment is especially convenient for guests travelling to NYC who work at the United Nations, as we frequently have hosted UN employees in the past. The UN headquarters is 20 minutes by bus (or about a 5 min cab).

The area is also host to some of the most famous museums in the world. The string of museums along Fifth Avenue fronting Central Park has been dubbed "Museum Mile." Among the cultural institutions on the Upper East Side: 92nd Street Y, The Asia Society, Cooper–Hewitt, National Design Museum, The Frick Collection, The Jewish Museum of New York, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of the City of New York, The National Academy of Design, The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, The Whitney Museum of American Art, and El Museo Del Barrio. The United Nations, Grand Central Terminal, and the Chrysler Building are all conveniently accessible from our location.

The apartment is a few minutes walking distance from the Q train. It is also a 10 minute walk to the 6 train at 77th St. and the 4/5 express trains at 86th St.. The M72, M31, and M79 bus lines are minutes away by foot as well. Additionally, there are several convenient Zipcar locations in the immediate proximity.

We had a fantastic stay at Ruth's beautiful Upper East side apartment. It was clean and bright and had all the amenities we needed to be comfortable during our stay. The location is great as well - we would definitely stay here again!

Ruth was a fantastic host. She answered all our questions, made great local recommendations and made sure we were completely comfortable. The room and bathroom were spotless, a little sanctuary in the heart of NYC. There are some really good bars and restaurants nearby and all of the other sites are easily accessible.

Ruth's Baseroom apartment is close to shops and restaurants. About a 30minute walk to Central Manhattan. Has basic amenities, wished towels were changed daily tho but there's a pay washing machine beside the apartment. Cute comfy apartment for 2.

I think the best things are convenient traffic (around 7 minutes walk to subway station), quiet blocks, and well-equipped facilities (comfortable beds, fridge, hair-dryer, microwave etc). Very nice experience in Ruth's apartment. One thing to note is that the air outside the basement smell unpleasant but will not influence the indoor space.

Ruth's place was comfortable, clean, and just as advertised. The neighborhood is charming and the street is pretty quiet, while great cafés, subway stops, and shops are a short walk away. Ruth and her partner responded to my questions quickly. They were flexible and kind in meeting my requests. It was a really pleasant stay.

The place was better then described. Though I did not meet Ruth she was very on the spot when it came to communication. Everyone should stay here if you can. Thanks again Ruth

Nice and quiet area to stay, perfect clean appartement and great hospitality. A bit far from downtown and about 10-15 walk from the next subway station, but while walking through the upper east side we discovered beautiful restaurants. cafes and places to take a break. If you are not afraid of a little walk, this is a great place to stay and definitely can recommend to do so.
