My place is close to Shipley Glen with easy access to the moors; Saltaire, the world heritage village and its railway station (15 min walk down the hill through the woods), Leeds Bradford Airport (15 min drive). You’ll love it because it's a self contained character cottage, which we lovingly call the Bothy! Located adjacent to our house, it's private, cosy and tucked away, so great if you just want some peace and quiet. It's great for couples, solo adventurers and business travellers.
The Bothy really is a great space and has everything you need for a relaxed stay without the awkwardness of staying in someone's home or the bland surroundings of a generic hotel chain.
Situated adjacent to our house, the Bothy is self contained with its own front door. It features a welcoming lounge with a sofa and two easy chairs, Freeview tv, DAB radio and log burner. There's also a small table, a bathroom with walk in shower, a compact kitchen, and a first floor bed deck accessed via a staircase that features a double bed, hanging rail and chest of drawers.
We provide free Yorkshire Tea, Taylor's of Harrogate coffee bags and a jar of sweet treats. We'll also pop a small Kilner bottle of skimmed milk in the fridge, so you can have a brew as soon as you arrive and settle in.
The kitchen is compact and features a two ring halogen hob. There is no conventional oven, however a small counter top oven and microwave are provided. There's also a toaster and kettle.
Towels are provided, as well as quality toiletries such as shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and loo roll.
Free BT Infinity Wifi :-)
The Bothy features a log burning stove. We're happy to supply a starter fuel pack for £8 which will include logs for one night, kindling and firelighters. Further logs can be purchased from local stores or you can simply bring your own. Please let us know if you require a fuel pack before arrival.
There is no washing machine. Should you require anything to be washed we're happy for you to use the machine and the tumble dryer in the main house for a small charge.
Business users only - should you require a continental breakfast including fruit juice, tea/coffee, cereal, warmed croissants or toast (butter and selection of jams), or a bacon roll, this can be provided at a cost of £6.50 per day payable on check-in. Please message me at time of booking to reserve. Unfortunately I'm only able to offer this service to business guests, weekday bookings only.
We do have a travel cot should guests be travelling with a baby. However please note that it can only be set up on the ground floor. The accommodation isn't really suitable for small children.
No long terms lets... sorry!
We are set back from the street and accessed via a private drive. There is secure gated parking for three cars. There is plenty of on-street parking.
Cyclists are able to store their bikes in our secure garage.
In the summer guests are very welcome to use the numerous seating areas in the garden to relax.
Interaction with guests
Happy to offer help... just ask!
Other things to note
We have two cats... one who is very sociable and likes to go into the Bothy to say hello to guests. If you're not a cat person, just simply leave the front door closed.
Check out by 10am Monday-Saturday and 11am Sunday (later check out by arrangement only).
For long stay bookings (more than two weeks), a cleaning fee of £30 will be applied.
We would prefer you not to wear shoes in the Bothy. Please take them off in the entrance.
As we don't charge a cleaning fee, we would appreciate it if when leaving guests ensure all food/drink is removed, bins in the kitchen and bathroom are emptied, bed stripped and sheets placed with bath/hand towels behind the front door - thanks!
Please use the heating sensibly. The thermostat should be set at no more than 21 and if you're having to open windows when it's on, just turn it off. If you go out for the day, please turn it off or turn the thermostat down. Running it all day, 24/7 will ultimately result in me having to put my costs up which I don't want to do.
Please recycle all appropriate rubbish. We have fortnightly bin collections and therefore are fairly strict about this. There is a general waste bin provided as well as a bin for rinsed cans, bottles, plastic etc. Larger bins can be found at the side of the house, please put the right items in the right bin. If you have paper or cardboard to recycle please let me know and I will pop it in our paper recycling bin in the garage.
If for whatever reason you happen to stain the bedding/mattress or carpet, please make us aware of it before leaving. Accidents happen and we're all human, but please have the courtesy to inform us rather than leave for us to discover. Unfortunately a cleaning charge may be applied.
