Everything you need and everything you want! Full kitchen with every appliance imaginable, stocked with all of the basics. Go home with clean laundry! Your vehicle in a secure garage with automatic opener. One block from two different bus systems

The space

Transport yourself back to the 20’s with hardwood oak floors, charming craftsman door and window trim, with shaded patio for barbeque among raised bed herb and vegetable gardens and lawn in a private gated yard. The amenities are modern: fully stocked kitchen with gas oven and range, silverware, cookware, spices, appliances and utensils. There’s a flat screen TV, DVD player, air conditioner, washer/dryer (detergent and dryer sheets are provided), etc. Easy walk to local and regional bus stops, the light rail train to Union Station, the Rose Parade, markets, restaurants, and more! From here you can get everywhere without a car. If you have a car, you have use of the garage and electric garage door opener.

This is the guest house behind Carol’s home on a quiet tree-lined street in a residential neighborhood and has many amenities.

The quaint bungalow is decorated throughout with sunny yellow and indigo blue. There’s a cozy bedroom with a full bed, early century armoire and iHome AM/FM clock radio on the nightstand. The living room has an overstuffed queen sofa bed and comfy side chair, craftsman game table with four chairs, 32” flat screen TV and bright whimsy-musical art prints (Linda Le Kinff’s “Harmonia” and Marcus Glen’s “Floating… with the Mojo”) on the walls.

The kitchen is stocked with everything you might need, and if you need anything more, just ask Carol—she is in the front house. There is a Weber barbeque and shaded patio under a pergola with a table and six chairs for dining al fresco.

The bungalow has an electronic keypad door lock, and you will use a secure four-digit number of your choosing to get in—to the yard and the home—no keys need to be exchanged! If you arrive early (before cleaning is finished), you can stow your stuff in the garage and start exploring!

The yard is fenced if you have a small pet. If your pet(s) get along with Carol’s three miniature schnauzers, then there is a pet door for in-out privileges. Aggressive pets will need to be kept on a leash when out of the house. Please check with Carol in advance with information about your pet(s), and please note that there is a security deposit for any pet.

Your host is a native Southern Californian and can make suggestions and give directions to anywhere you might want to go. The bungalow is close to public transportation that can get you almost anywhere without a car. Or, stay in the neighborhood to visit the local park with its playground, check out the local restaurants, grocery, dry cleaner, hair salon and more in close walking distance. Widen your net to the Pasadena Playhouse and other theaters, the Ice House comedy club, the Coffee Gallery’s folk music presentations; the campus events at area colleges: California Institute of Technology (CalTech), Fuller Theological Seminary, Pacific Oaks College, Pasadena City College; check out the many museums (Pasadena Museum of History, Pacific Asia Museum, Museum of California Art, the Norton Simon, Kidspace Children’s Museum, among so many others); for a greener experience, explore the world famous Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens, Descanso Gardens, the Arboretum in Arcadia, or ply the local walking trails in Eaton Canyon and greater Arroyo Seco; take your work-out outdoors at the Brookside fitness trail with its 14 fitness stations; then get organic foods and other goodies at one of the farmer’s markets in the area. Can't say enough good things about this bungalow and this host. Everything you could possibly need is here. If you need a great place in or around Pasadena book with Carol....if you are lucky enough that the needed dates are open. She is pretty busy:)

Carol was a lovely host for me and my family during a business trip. She stayed up late to greet us and show us around, had milk ready for our next morning coffee and had great information about the area in the house. I loved the she had some toys in the house as well as we were traveling with our 5 year old son. I would stay again in this house next time we are in LA.

Carol's bungalow is full featured, there's nothing we missed during our 3 days stay. If you're looking to stay a bit remote from the bustling downtown area, this is definitely the place to go! At the same time it was very easy and quick to drive to downtown, in less than 30 minutes. The garden was perfectly green and comfortable. I appreciated the atmosphere of the home, a good balance between vintage (wood is just everywhere) and comfort. Nights were quiet, and neighborhood very safe, which was perfectly adequate since we were on a 16hrs haul flight. We'd love to come back again!

Our family of four (two adults, two children) stayed at Carol's place while I did some research at the Huntington Library. It was close enough for me to bike to the Library, and a great neighborhood (a park and playground 2 blocks away, quiet streets, public libraries) for my kids to explore. The house has an attached garage, with back yard space and an outside patio dining set that we used most evenings to enjoy that perfect SoCal weather. Carol went above and beyond to welcome our family and provide every comfort. She even kept me up-to-date on all the latest events in the area. How else would I have learned about the Annual Rubber Duckie Race at the Kidspace Museum next to the Rose Bowl?! Seriously, Carol is a great guide to Pasadena, and really helped us to appreciate this community that we joined for a few weeks.

Very good and considerate host. Beautiful quiet residential neighborhood, close to amenities. Very nicely appointed space with thoughtful appointments to create a comfortable experience. Carole has managed to create a space with all that you need while feeling clear and uncluttered in the space provided. She is very accommodating and checked in to ensure you are having a good experience. I will definitely look for availability again next time I am in Pasadena.

Carol User ProfileCarol is a superhost.

I am a native Southern Californian who has lived all over Los Angeles and Orange Counties. I settled into Pasadena to help care for my mother and stayed after she passed. I am a librarian, a volunteer foster mom for a miniature schnauzer rescue organization and am trying my hand at landscape design in my front yard (now that the grass is gone, let the planting begin) which will ultimately be a year-round profusion of colorful blooms and butterflies. The raised garden beds in the back have seasonal vegetables and herbs. Help yourself to the strawberries!

Ask me about public gardens, farmers markets, and bargain hunting at thrift and consignment shops as well as museums, hiking trails and other places to explore.

I want to make my guest's stays as comfortable as my stays at my favorite timeshare/resort on the coast near San Diego. House Rule #1 is to enjoy yourself during your stay.
