We have been operating as a popular traditional B&B for 16 years. The Jetty House was built by Joseph Graves who started the steam-driven timber mill in Southport (a technophile- up until then timber was milled by convicts in pits)
It is now a comfortable, rambling home set in lovely gardens next to a beautiful white sand beach. Step back in time and relax. Room for your extended family or a group of friends.

The space

We can accommodate up to 12 guests in 7 spacious rooms which makes it perfect for extended family groups or up to 6 couples. We can also accommodate retreats/workshops etc. the handcrafted dining room table has supported many memorable feasts and the 3 lounges mean that everyone can have some space.
Add to this the natural beauty of Far South Tasmania and the fact that Hobart with its attractions is only a picturesque 90 minute drive away and there is a white sand beach across the road.
What are you waiting for??!

Guest access

You will have 7 rooms, 3 bathrooms, 3 lounge areas, a well-equipped kitchen with full-sized stove, dishwasher and coffee machine. Outside there are wraparound verandas, extensive gardens and a bbq gazebo. Across the road is Southport Beach with beautiful white sand and safe swimming.

Interaction with guests

We will meet you and make sure everyone is settled then we will leave you alone unless you need anything. We live onsite in a separate dwelling.

Rosalind is very welcoming. This house reeks of history and is in a great spot. Our group of nine had Christmas in July there and it was perfect for a large group around the table with a warming fire. Many thanks, Rosalind for a great weekend!

Response from Rosalind:
Thank you Gina for the good review, and thanks for doing what the Jetty House is perfect for- preparing and then eating meals with lots of friends round our big table next to the log fire.

Rosalind made nice brownie to welcome us. The house is exactly what we expected to meet the need of a big group of 12 peoples.

Our extended family spent the long weekend at Jetty House. Ros and Carl are kind and thoughtful hosts, providing fresh produce from the garden and ensuring we were warm and comfortable. The house is an absolute delight with lots of character, toys, books, and a piano; something for everyone. Southport abounds with beautiful beaches and lends itself to a relaxing break. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This was such a fun house! I hosted a yoga retreat. We all enjoyed the unique homey features. The hosts really accommodated for us, which we greatly appreciated. Amazing kitchen and lots of character. Also love the access to the water and easy drive to hasting caves.

Rosalind was a wonderful hostess who greeted us on arrival and showed us everything that we needed to know and organised heaters, bathrobes and hints about the two open fires in the living areas. The house is truly magnificent and full of delightful bric a brac, antiques and art work. With two dining areas and two living rooms we felt thoroughly spoilt as there were only three of us. The garden was lovely even in mid winter and I look forward to seeing it some time in summer. Rosalind gave us some really good tips as to walks and places to visit. All breakfast fare, oranges, apples, honey, jam, tea, coffee etc were provided. Rosalind couldn't have been more helpful, coming out in the dark to change gas bottles while we marvelled at her imperviousness to the cold. I visited here with my adult son and daughter and we enjoyed our evenings snuggled in front of the open fire playing scrabble and our mornings snuggled in front of the other open fire with cups of tea. Visits from Rosalind's cat Pushkin, who grew up in the house, added to the charm. A truly lovely two days.

We had such a great time at Jetty House, there was so much more to that experience than what was written on the page! A beautiful rambling house with comfortable beds and a multitude of bedrooms - an amazing comfortable large kitchen that was easy to cook in even with 8 chefs, a vege patch we could pick fresh vegetables from, hidden beaches to find, robins in the trees... it was really a remarkable place. Would love to go back.

My husband and I run a B&B in the South of Tasmania in a little seaside town. I love France and walking, food, architecture, and gardens.
