This cute studio apartment is perfect for just one or two people. Appropriately named "The Nest" it is quaint, artsy and tucked away high on a hill overlooking Smith Rock State Park. A pine log queen bed, whimsical paintings, and a rustic juniper breakfast bar bring the outdoors inside this unique little escape.
This little gem is located on the west end of our shop. We have two resident shop cats (T-Cat and Mich) who are very loved and well cared for but do not come in either of the two rentals on the property.
The apartment will be unlocked prior to guest arrival and the code for the lock box to the right of the entry is in the guest manual. We can be available if needed upon check-in.
Interaction with guests
We live just 4 houses down the hill and are available right away if you need us. We do come and go in the adjacent shop area during the day when tools are needed when working on jobs in town. There is no loud activity in the shop.
Other things to note
We do have coffee and tea available for guests. Sometimes there are eggs, sparkling water, a couple beers, chocolate or fresh tomatoes depending on availability. There is always some little surprise waiting!
- There is no smoking of any kind on our property, in vehicles, or in the neighborhood. Please carefully consider that when booking. The speed limit on our private neighborhood road is 15 mph, and we really ask people to stick to that when traveling through due to animals and children. Other rules are simple, be respectful to the quiet nature of our neighborhood. 10 pm - 7 am are quiet hours. Please use the recycle container and be mindful of water and power usage. We are on a septic system, so please do not flush any additional items.

I've lived in Oregon since 1977 when I was hired for a permanent job as a park ranger after college. 30 some years later, I retired from Oregon State Parks and and never left. After living mostly on the very far eastern side of Oregon I moved to the Terrebonne area in 2010. My best work ever was raising my two now grown kids but I love theater (10 years of community theater) and animals (cat foster parent and rescuer) also I am drawn to writing (luckily published in some magazines). I have traveled to England, Mexico, Israel, Italy and various places around the USA including Mardi Gras in New Orleans twice!! Now my partner Mark and I host two Airbnb places which keeps us crazy busy and it is a tad tougher to get away. I am still holding on to the idea of Scotland or Ireland someday though. We've used Airbnb a few times and loved the connections we've made there. Hopefully we can now give those great experiences back to others looking for a home base in the open spaces of Central Oregon!
