Located at Porthmadog Harbour, our home is a historical and cosy slate house with spectacular views over Snowdonia mountains - perfect for couples, solos or families. This stunning area has much to offer in all seasons, with outstanding beaches, walks, restaurants and cafes, and activities including Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland steam railways, water sports and horse riding. The famous Portmeirion Village and Harlech, Criccieth and Caernarfon castles are all short driving distance.

The space
The accommodation is a grade II listed property situated in the historical heart of Porthmadog. Located on the ground floor is our open plan kitchen diner with range cooker and authentic beams. On the first floor we also have a small study/snug with desk, and access to a shower room available.

The second floor is home to your beautiful front bedroom, where you will find wonderful views over the harbour, the stunning Moelwyn mountain range beyone, and across to the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland railways - you can even catch a glimpse of the steam train as it sets off on its journey through the mountains. With a lovely comfortable double bed, tea/coffee making facilities and television in the bedroom, the room is very cosy and perfect for relaxing after a long day hiking or exploring, and comes with a private bathroom with gorgeous standalone roll top bath (with shower attachment).

We also have a range of board games, dvds and books available for guests.

Guest access
Guests have full access to kitchen and dining facilities with a range cooker, fridge/freezer and microwave, and there is also a large dining table.
A breakfast of cereals, fruit, toast/croissants and yogurt is provided between 7.30-9.15. Please advise of any special dietary needs.
There is a snug/office space available for use on the first floor.
The second floor bedroom has sole use of the bathroom with bath and shower attachment and is located across the landing. There is also a shower in the first floor shower room if preferred. The small, secluded garden at the back of the property has access steps which are very steep and unsuitable for young children or the disabled.

Other things to note
While the house is in a generally tranquil location, there is a public house in the harbour that can be lively on occasion.

Guests can take advantage of our 10% discount for the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways.

The history of the area is quite unique, and also provides for activities and culture which can support many types of holiday, from the young family to the mature walker seeking to be at one with nature.

We are situated near to the town centre, with a selection of cafes, ice-cream parlours, gift shops and a great park for children.

We are ideally located for visiting Snowdonia National Park, historic castles at Criccieth, Harlech, Caernarfon and Conway, Beddegelert or the famous Zip World and Bounce Below in nearby Blaenau Ffestiniog.

The well known village of Portmeirion is 10 minutes away by car, with its beautiful Italian style architecture, an array of cafes and restaurants, and coastal and woodland walks. This is also the location of 'Festival No. 6', an arts and music festival which takes place at the beginning of each September and has won numerous 'Best small festival' awards.

We are a short walk from the picturesque town of Borth-Y-Gest with seaside cafes and lovely sandy beaches, and minutes' drive from Black Rock Sands, a unique beach ideal for picnics and water sports, where you can drive onto the sand. Here you can also visit the wonderful 'Black Rock Llamas' and maybe go for a llama trek!

I am a recently retired social worker and thoroughly enjoying a change of direction and a new challenge, having moved back to my roots in North Wales. I have been renovating my house, which satisfies my creative passions, and I love the more peaceful and gentle way of life here, having lived for the last 40 years in the south east. I look forward to pursuing more outdoor activities, and reacquainting myself with the area over the coming months. I am a sociable person and very much enjoy music, films and meeting up with friends. Hosting via airbnb will fulfil my need to keep active and engaged, and I will enjoy meeting guests from all over the world. I have enjoyed travel to many different countries over the years and particularly enjoy a relaxed and laid back destination and learning about different cultures.
