Our stylish and modern newly renovated one bedroom flat combines boutique hotel accommodation with home living. Just minutes from the famous Portobello Market and trendy restaurants and shops of Notting Hill, our spacious flat also has easy access to the Ladbroke Grove tube line.

The space

The flat is our London pied a terre, which we use on the rare occassions when we are in London. We haven't lived in Notting Hill for years, and love how much energy there is here at the weekends. Still, as we know London is known for its quiet Villas and parks, we wanted to let guests know that our area is definitely more urban sights and sounds (shops and cars) - especially in the summer months with the windows opened - than London leafy (apple trees and birds).
We live year round in a small village, and love the city feel of our new neighbourhood. The big Portobello Saturday Street Market is almost on the doorstep, and, absolutely the best of Notting Hill is around the corner. Things aren't rowdy in any way and definitely feel very safe - the shops across from the building are uncharacteristically open until 1 am so walking home from the tube ( 2 minutes away ) or jumping out of a cab feels much safer than we were used to in our old London neighbourhood.

We have bought new linens and towels and toiletries. And the place is fairly stocked up on basic food stuffs and alcohol. Please feel free to make yourself 100% at home. We have also prepared a little packet with good places to eat and shop in the neighbourhood - including the great take away and bring your own bottle places that are cheaper but really good.

We really love our time at the flat, and hope you enjoy your stay. Julia

Guest access

Guests have access to the full range of flat amenities: stocked kitchen, linens, TV, Amazon Prime, DVDs, books, hair dryer, honour bar.

Interaction with guests

I am not in London as the same time as guests, but am always available online and will do all that I can to help ensure a great visit to London. I have left a list of great area places in Notting Hill and created a special map of the neighbourhood.

Other things to note

We have left an extensive owners manual but we like to particularly stress:
1) Please turn off the heat before leaving
2) Please close the windows
3) If, for any reason, the boiler switches off you just need to reset it - the circular reset button is on the right. Resetting can sometimes take a few tries
4) The flat has wireless internet which is connected to the TV so you can watch BBC iPlayer. We also have hundreds of FreeView channels and an extensive DVD collection.

The apartment is beautiful and communication with Julia was easy and her responses timely. Only drawback for us personally was the noise from the highway. Convenient location and all amenities within the apartment you will need.

Response from Julia:
Hi Tasha, I just wanted to say that I am sorry again that the noise bothered you. I totally understand. Coming from New York, we really don't hear the noise, except in hot summers when we need all the windows open. Still, I do know that the central location of the flat means that it is not as traditionally quiet as other flats in London. I have done my best to be upfront about the location in my description, but please do let me know if you think I should change it. I want guest to 150% enjoy the flat and welcome any suggestions for improvement. Thanks again for being such great guests. Julia

Julia's apartment is clean, spacious, and most importantly, well located - easy access to public transportation to train station/airport (with luggage) and almost everywhere in London. And, many excellent restaurants, cafés and shops are nearby. Sainsbury's and Tesco are just across the street. Julia is a fantastic host - making sure we had a great time in her apartment and in London. The only drawback from some might be the street noise outside, but this was not a problem for us. We would definitely stay here again and happy to recommend.

We enjoyed our stay in Julia's flat very much! It was our first time in London and although we did not meet Julia she kept the communication open and surprised us with a beautiful bouquet of flowers for our wedding anniversary. The flat is completely furnished and tastefully decorated. The kitchen is well equipped with just about everything one needs to cook up a quick meal. We would have had a better sleep on the comfortable queen size bed if it wasn't for the constant traffic noise just outside the kitchen window. The flat is just a two minute walk to Ladbroke Grove tube station. There are also buses close by that take you to the main attractions. Julia's flat is conveniently located to grocery stores, restaurants, pubs coffee shops and the famous Portobello Market. Checking in and out of the flat was easy. Overall we were very pleased.

Very centrally situated with Sainsburys across the road. Plenty of coffee and cafés close by. Bus and Tube also at the front door. Kitchen easy to use although we didn't eat meals in. Comfortable bed.

Julia's lovely flat is very nicely furnished and corresponds perfectly to the pictures displayed on her Airbnb page. As the windows do not have a great level of isolation, which is the case in many English buildings I think, one can hear a bit of the noise coming from the street, while being in the sleeping room. Apart from that, the flat is very conveniently situated: across the tube station of Ladbroke Grove and a block away from The Portobello Market, and we had a great time! I recommend it to anyone willing to visit the Portobello Market and spend time in this lively neighborhood.

We spent the most lovely 3 days in London, everything was great. The flat is very well located and its perfectly comfortable. We were pleasently surprised by it, better than what it seemed in the photos. Too bad it was such a short stay for us, we look forward to come back to London and stay there again.

My husband and I need to be in London for brief bursts of work. When we are back at the flat, we want everything to be comfortable, clean and modern - just like a hotel but with the comforts of home! When people stay in the flat, we want them to feel at home and make themselves…
