Welcome to your sleek, modern, light-filled English basement apartment in one of D.C.'s most diverse, family-friendly neighborhoods.
The apartment is a brand-new renovation of the English Basement in a classic, 120 year-old Mt. Pleasant row house. It can be configured as comfortable, airy two-bedroom, or a very spacious one bedroom with a large living area and dining table (the desk in the pictures pulls out to seat 8). In addition to the apartment, you will have access to a small back patio and garden.
The space is great for families, friends, or colleagues traveling together, as well as solo travelers looking to spread out. If you are traveling with young children we can provide a pack 'n play for sleeping/playing and a high chair for mealtimes!
Please note, however, that there is no TV in the space. We use our laptops and Wifi for our entertainment needs.
Also note that the space is NOT a good fit for parties, or groups who plan to go out on the town until late. We are a rowhouse, with shared walls on both sides and lots of neighbors, and our kids get up pretty early, even on weekends.
You will have the entire English basement to yourself, as well as access to the back yard.
Interaction with guests
My husband and I live upstairs with our two young children, so while we lead an active life we are around to help you plan activities or deal with any issues that may arise.
Other things to note
There are steps down to the basement, and, as this is a 120 year old house, the staircase is narrow (about two feet) and very tall people (like my husband) may have to duck their heads through the entry. If you have a very large suitcase or trunk, we can bring it in through the main house.
Quiet time after 10pm please. We live in a rowhouse with shared walls on both sides. We also try to keep the kids quiet upstairs until 7am, but there is some noise from little feet, highchairs, etc.
