The space

A special note about COVID-19 — as a host, your health and safety is my number one priority. I am very conscientious about bleaching/sterilizing every load of laundry, and sanitizing every surface, light switch, door handle, etc. in the house between guest stays. I want to reassure you that as a host, I’m doing everything I can to make sure you will have peace of mind during your stay.

Welcome to my home! It’s always my goal to make sure you’re comfortable and happy, and to give you tips about all the best stuff this neighborhood has to offer (which is a lot). Enjoy the spacious, open layout, take advantage of the private backyard, and explore the neighborhood. Please note that this is the lower level of a duplex -- the apartment is private and all yours, but there is an apartment above you where other guests will be staying as well.

Brand new for 2021: I just built an authentic wood-fired SAUNA, perfect for relaxing on cold winter days. The sauna is located in the backyard, and has a changing/cool-down room. It's a fantastic experience. *SPECIAL NOTE ON THE SAUNA DURING COVID* Being that the sauna is shared with other guests and we need to be mindful of Covid safety, I operate the sauna based on a "reservation" system: when you book, I'll send a link where you can schedule your sessions. I'll start the fire in advance to get it ready for you. I keep plenty of time between sessions to clean and air the sauna out. Inherently, this limits how often anyone can use the sauna, so while you'll likely get to use it plenty during your stay, it might not always be exactly when you want, or as often -- I appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we all keep each other as safe as possible!

You’ll have the entire spacious first floor of the building to yourself, which used to be a corner grocery store in the early 20th century and has since been lovingly remodeled. Built in 1902, the space is airy and open, with high ceilings and huge windows. It’s filled with original art, thoughtful touches, and modern comforts, yet retains its historic and unconventional character. Custom-made furniture and cool art makes for a stylish vibe beneath the original pressed tin ceiling, and a wall full of books will keep you well-read!

The backyard is like an urban oasis — fully fenced in and private, with lush gardens, multiple decks, lounge space, and a fire pit, and a SAUNA.

Ultra-easy with a keypad lock on the front door. I send the code when you book! I do not need to be present when you check in.

There are two bedrooms in the unit -- a main bedroom with a queen-sized foam mattress that has a private entrance/exit to the backyard, and shares a hallway to the kitchen and bathroom. The sunny storefront space can also be a bedroom — there's a double Murphy bed hidden in the wall, complete with a comfortable Tuft & Needle memory foam mattress, and outlets for your devices.

There is one bathroom, which is small but has everything you need: tub/shower, sink, toilet, fresh white towels and washcloths, a hairdryer, and complimentary shampoo/body wash.

Fully stocked, open, and ready for you to whip up an award-winning meal. Sharp knives, all the utensils and dishware and cooking equipment, a full oven/range, a full size dishwasher, commercial steel sink and faucet, and concrete countertops.

The large, open storefront space is a combined living and dining room, with plenty of space to hang out and watch TV on the large 55” flatscreen with soundbar (all streaming services available), or gather at the huge dining room table near the plant-filled front windows. It’s a beautiful and relaxing space that also photographs really well, in case you’re the Instagram type :)

The backyard is a special spot. Fully fenced in, it feels super private and a world away — plenty of decks, lounge spots, garden beds, and a fire pit for you to enjoy on a chilly evening with friends. Best of all, there's a brand new wood-fired sauna for you to enjoy -- perfect for the wintertime. The yard is also a great area for photo shoots — weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, or anything else!

Where you’ll be

Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States

I know this neighborhood inside and out, and will provide you with my ultra-awesome, comprehensive neighborhood guide when you book :)

The takeaway: you're in the epicenter of the best food, drink, coffee, art, and culture in town, walkable to most of it. If you're a beer fanatic, you're a stone's throw from over a dozen local breweries.

You are within walking distance of three of Minneapolis’ most award-winning restaurants:

- Hai Hai (a 5 min walk)
- Popol Vuh (10 min walk)
- Young Joni (15 min walk)

When you venture out, you will find yourself in the heart of the Northeast Arts District -- a safe, charming residential neighborhood that is within 1-2 miles of coffee shops, grocery stores, restaurants, and all manner of excellent restaurants, bars, and attractions, in addition to incredible local breweries, hundreds of artist studios, and more.

Our street is a designated bikeway, among many others that cover the entire city. Minneapolis is one of the best biking cities in the country, and we provide maps and route advice to get you just about anywhere.

We are close to the center of downtown, the Minneapolis chain of lakes, and Target Field (the new Twins stadium). The largest art crawl/festival in the nation, Art-a-Whirl, takes place directly in our neighborhood every May.
