In an old Merchanthouse right in the medina of Tangier you can rent a very comfortable double room with a kingsize bed, elegant readingchairs, the private bathroom with s/t/s is not en suite. Lot´s of communal space inside and outside with 4 terraces
Sherazade is on the first floor of the old Merchanthouse. Wooden floors give the room a warm feeling and a colonial touch. The room has two French balconies with a view on the street and the place Sakaya with a little market twice a week. The colourful tiles and ceilings are just beautiful in this room. All original from around 1898. Lay back and relax on the kingsize wooden bed and enjoy the ambiance!
Quests have acces to a lot of communal space in the house.
the reading corner and receptionroom on the ground floor, the Moroccan salon on the first floor and a workingarea (free wifi everywhere!). And on top of that alot of outsidespace for
you. What about 4 terraces and a sundeck with sea- and kasbahview. Wauh!!
Interaction with guests
As your host I will be around for all your questions. As a Tanjawi since 2006 I can give you good tips where to go , to eat, to shop etc If you need a reliable driver for daytrips to Assilah, Tetouan, Chefchaouen, Mohamed is your man. Like to have a Moroccan dinner at home, Abdullah makes delicious dishes. Or you want to make the first day a walking cultural tour through the medina, kasbah and the Marshan. Then Els is your woman. She speaks a lot of lanquages and knows everything about Tangier´s fascinating history and all it´s eccentric people.
Other things to note
It's good to know that the room is on the street side so yes it can be a little noisy......for people that don't fall in a deep sleep after the wandering around and all the different impressions of the medinalife :))
We respect our neighbours and other quests in the house. Smoking inside not alowed. With all the outsidespace we have no problem!!

I am Peter Van der Drift living in Tangier , Morocco, since 2006. Before making this major change in my life I was working as a manager/consultant in the Netherlands based in Amsterdam.
Now I split my time between those two cities but I love to travel around the world as well.
Interested in art, architecture, (interior) design, literature , movies etc etc.
As a people-person meeting new quests in the Merchanthouse from different cultures with different backgrounds is for me always truly interesting My motto is to enjoy life NOW!
