LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! Perfect distance for a walk to the village for croissants and coffee every morning. In addition it was the perfect location to see the surrounding Provence villages!

Sally's place is a charming and unique place in a fantastic location - Menerbes is the perfect place to stay when visiting the Luberon. We loved strolling the town, and our evenings by the lovely pool and patio, just a few steps up the road. The view from there is beautiful. We had all we needed, and appreciated the warm welcome and responsiveness we got from Alexandra, while Sally was out of town. She was over in a few minutes after we accidentally locked ourselves in after accidentally shutting the door with the key still in the lock outside - something visitors need to be very careful of. It's a bit odd, but you cannot get out from the inside without a key (I was also locked in one morning when my husband went to a cafe, not knowing I wouldn't be able to get out - there are bars on the windows, too). We noticed the mildewy smell downstairs but chalked it up to this being a very old structure. However, the very bad (rotting) smell that came from the bathroom in the space above us (not for use but open via stairs) was off-putting - perhaps a problem with the old plumbing, though thankfully it didn't also emanate from our own bathrooms. Keeping windows open and closing a door upstairs helped but not 100%. We also found a number of cobwebs around furnishings and some dustiness here and there, including the sofa. One more note to visitors: it took us a few tries driving around before we realized you have to drive up a very narrow street to the house, which at first appears to be undrivable or intended for pedestrians. It was a little nerve-wracking at first, but we got used to it. Just watch out for the waiters crossing at its base, as they carry food from La Veranda (which is excellent) to their outdoor space across the street! All very charming, actually. We loved being in Menerbes and appreciate Sally's hospitality. The guests staying in the adjoining spaces (all part of Sally's property) and sharing the pool were all very nice.

This property is a real gem in the heart of Provence. All communication was prompt and check in / check out was very easy. Menerbes is one of most beautiful hill top villages. The property is very spacious and the pool is one of the best features! The view from the pool must be up there with one of the best in the Luberon. There were other guests using the pool but it's very private and a large space. Kitchen and bathroom are tidy and user friendly and we cooked most of our meals. Parking right outside the house. We had a marvelous time! Would highly recommend.

Cannot speak highly enough of our stay at the Vaulted House in Provence (Menerbes). Our host Sally was the "hostess with the mostest". She was not only welcoming, but went all out to ensure we had the perfect stay, including providing written tips on the best restaurants & day trips. Can't thank you enough Sally!! The photos on Airbnb are great, but it's even better in reality. A totally quintessinal Provincal experience. The home is full of Sally's exquisite antiques, textiles & artwork. Even down to the linens on the beds & the towels in the bathrooms that matched the decor in the bedrooms. The pool area was perfect for our stay & not limited to the 8pm curfew. Sally even provided apertiff's by the pool on our final day. The town of Menerbes is just beautiful. Plenty of quaint restaurants & friendly locals. Loved our local supermarket & bakery, amongst everything else. The walks thru the historic streets of the town and surrounds are magical. If you plan a stay in Provence, don't look any further than Sally's Vaulted House & Menerbes. We stayed 8 nights & used it as a base for our travels. Before you head off to Provence, take the time to read Peter Mayle's book "A Year in Provence". That says it all. Thank you once again Sally for ticking off a few notches in my bucket list. We will definitely be back. Vanessa

I am a lover of travel and exotic treasures (textiles, whimsical objects, antiques, paintings). I love to create, whether by painting houses, stitching curtains or cushions, or creating an installation. Naturally, I love to cook, especially after going to one of the numerous open markets here in Provence. Not to mention the choice of wine! Lucky me--I have lived in the US, Venezuela, Barbados and France. and as a result speak 3 languages. My homes in France were created for my family, and so they are comfortable, warm and charming. I have lived in Provence for for over 14 years.
