Aunt Bette’s is a self-contained addition built onto the back of the house. The suite includes a large bedroom and bathroom with a private patio and entrance. Perfect for a single person or couple, it offers a quiet stay with flowers, books and magazines. Your booking includes parking for one car, bike storage, a queen bed, bedside tables with charging stations, a small table and chairs, StarLink WIFI, TV, a mini fridge, microwave, kettle, Keurig, and walk-in shower with a seat.

The space
Aunt Bette’s house on Campobello Island was built in 1900 by the Lank family, who had nine children. Betty E. Lank was born in 1904. She became a nurse anaesthetist at Children’s Hospital Boston, where she had a long and prominent career before returning to her house on the island.

Aunt Bette’s is located in the Welshpool area of Campobello Island near the historic library and museum. Welshpool was founded in 1770 by Admiral William Owen and named for the Admiral’s hometown in Wales.

From here you can walk 3-4 short blocks to visit the museum or take a wonderful whale tour from the dock below the library. Go down to the beach to watch the ferry arrive on the hour, or take a longer (1 k) stroll to the Porch at Friar’s Bay and enjoy a cocktail while the sun sets. It’s a perfect location.

Guest access
Please park on either side of the front driveway - whichever side is free. Walk on the right side of the house to the side door at the back. If you’re biking, you can store your bike inside the hall at night.

Other things to note
There’s a thermostat and baseboard heater in the bedroom if the weather’s cool. There’s a portable fan in the bathroom if it’s hot, and a small humidifier if it’s muggy.
Bedding is usually fresh from the clothesline! Unfortunately there’s no access to the laundry or closets. Thanks for your understanding.

We moved from Vancouver, Canada to enjoy the quiet island life year round. We love the slower pace, clean fresh air, and strong community of Campobello Island. Our protected climate has warm summers with an abundance of eagles, whales, hummingbirds, monarch butterflies, and deer. We hope you enjoy your stay!
