This charming little apartment is on the upper floor of a downtown small town historic home (separate side entrance).
Quiet and cosy, yet just a 3-5 min walk to cafés, restaurants, trails, bars, shops, independent movie theatre(!), art galleries, and grocery (+farmers market, bakeries, and specialty). 1-min walk to the iconic and serene waterfowl park, don’t miss walking the beautiful boardwalks through birches and birds! Close walking distance to Mount Allison University.

The space
The self-contained 2nd-floor suite has a full kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and separate entrance.

**Length of stay discounts: Discounts of 15% for one week, 25% for two weeks, and 45% for a month or more will automatically be applied to your price when selecting dates. I have temporarily set a 2-night minimum.

**COVID-19 precautions: Cleanliness has always been a priority, but I have been especially careful to personally wipe down all counters, taps, knobs, switches, appliances etc with disinfectant. The couch and curtains are sprayed with a Lysol disinfectant spray between visits. As always, bedding, and towels are washed and extras are kept in a pantry along with extra cleaning supplies for the comfort of guests. Basic toiletries such as hand soap, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner are provided. Floors are cleaned as usual with vacuuming and mopping but are of a vintage that they still may appear scuffed and worn.***
There isn't a living room, but a loveseat and small table with chairs are in the kitchen area for lounging, and Netflix in the bedroom. Furnished with books, art, cozy decor, wifi, and games, there is plenty to do inside. However, you couldn't be better situated to walk to everything to see and do in "bagtown" (and there is a lot!).
A pantry holds extra towels and linens, an iron & ironing board, a hairdryer, and more. Also supplied are basic toiletries, a microwave, stove, full refrigerator, kettle, toaster, coffee press, coffee, tea, olive oil, balsamic, butter, often (but not always) fresh eggs from our chickens... if you're wondering what else, please just ask!
Please note that this second-floor apartment is accessed by a fairly steep interior stairway.

PETS: I'm open to the possibility of you bringing a pet, but please discuss this with me before booking.
I have a pet cat Petri downstairs, in a separate part of the house from the apartment. Please let me know (preferably before your arrival) if you are not exactly a cat person or are allergic, as he typically has access by (lockable) pet door to your downstairs entry. Petri may vie hard for your attention and for most guests he is a bonus, but it is easy for me to deter him if especially I know ahead of your visit.

Guest access
Please feel free to visit the backyard chickens & gardens. If the timing is right (the chickens take lengthy egg-laying vacations), I'll leave you fresh eggs along with the usual tea, coffee & kitchen basics.
The garden has a good variety of fruit and nut trees, berries, vines (grape, honeysuckle, hardy kiwi), vegetables, and ornamental trees. Sedums & creeping thyme make up the "lawn". Some of these plants, and also the chickens, are at the rear of the backyard barn.
Silver Lake is a short bike or drive away (in the summer I sometimes jog the NB Trail there and swim), as well as *many* great ski, snowshoe, and hiking trails. Shared use of a washer and dryer is available to guests, but it is in an old & unfinished basement, also accessed through your side entrance. Besides unfortunately not being accessible to some of those with mobility issues (due to the fairly steep interior stairs), this is an inclusive and friendly space.

Other things to note
Your separate entry is at the driveway side door of the house. This right side of the driveway is all yours and can fit up to three cars (uncovered). I park on the little 1-car spot to the left, near the front door. There is space in the entry for boots/shoes, and to hang your coats. The apartment is just up the stairs. Enjoy!
Interested in a longer stay? A discount is automatically applied to stays of a month or longer when booking through the site, making for a convenient medium-length furnished stay that has worked well for those looking for a soft initial landing in Sackville. This option has been popular also for those teaching for a few months at Mount Allison University or here for another short work term. Weekly and monthly discounts are automatically applied when you choose your dates to book.

Tucked away in a quiet corner of a vibrant downtown with small university town charm. So many unique and independently owned businesses are just a three-minute walk down the street. Only one minute from your door, you are stepping into our beautiful waterfowl park in the middle of town.

***COVID-19 updated Neighbourhood Info: The adjacent waterfowl park is open for walking, but the boardwalk sections are one-way only to facilitate 2m distancing; signage is posted in the park (see a map in listing photos). Jogging should be kept off the boardwalks as passing is currently discouraged, but our streets and sidewalks along with the nearby NB trail are suitable.
Some of the local cafes and restaurants are noted as closed below, but many great ones are open for pickup/delivery only. The farmer's markets have some options also.
The street, Weldon, parallels the NB Trail, and there are several nearby parks, including one at the foot of the street.
Daytips are almost limitless from the heart of the heart of the Maritimes. I encourage you to explore and ask me questions. Sackville is a 30 min drive from the Dieppe (Moncton) airport, 40 mins from Parlee Beach, 40 mins from the bridge to PEI, just over an hour to Hopewell Rocks, and about a 2 hour drove from Halifax.

I have created a digital guidebook of my recommendations, that you should have access to through your Airbnb booking. I will also have a physical binder of information at the apartment.

I've been using Airbnb as a traveler extensively since 2011, and started hosting my apartment (separate flat in my house) on the site in 2017. I really enjoy the Airbnb experience, both travelling and hosting! I would describe myself as laid back and fun, but also tidy and respectful of other people's spaces. I deeply appreciate good design and a nice setting, and love giving tips to people visiting my area. Often planning my own trips around good food, cycling, hiking, and hot springs, I savour good coffee and spirits. So far my favourite destinations have been Croatia and Japan, but a spontaneous trip to Peurto Rico in early 2017 was incredible! I work as a Cartographer/Geographic Information Systems Analyst and have a son in university. My hometown is Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, but I now feel equally enamoured with where I live: Sackville, New Brunswick.
