The space

Lesa Lynn Room – Secluded room featuring cathedral ceilings, en suite bath, private entrance and outdoor space. Your outdoor space includes a private deck and garden area under a canopy of trees.

The Black Boar Inn offers luxurious year-round accommodations in Ogunquit, Maine. Fine hospitality, eight working fireplaces, private baths, lovely gardens, a short walk to the beach and steps from the vibrant village center.

Built in 1674, The Black Boar Inn is the oldest structure in the Town of Ogunquit, located in the heart of the vibrant Village and a three minute walk to the beach.

The Inn's history is remarkable. King James II of England (14 Octob(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) September 1701) granted a plot of land in what is present day Ogunquit, Maine, to Alexandre Maxwell at some point in the mid-1600s. The Maxwell family built a home on this multi-acre plot in 1674 and lived there for about 100 years. In the mid-1700s, the home became the property of the Littlefield Family (another founding family of Wells/Ogunquit) who retained ownership until 1997. Only four families have owned this architectural jewel and remains a favorite of travelers from all parts of the world.

I had made a late in the game decision to take a long weekend away in Ogunquit and luckily, The Black Boar Inn had the Lesa Lynn room available. Attached to the main house, it is a quaint, cozy, private and CLEAN (smelling the sheets, it is evident they were freshly laundered well) bedroom and bathroom perfect for a solo traveler. Claudine welcomed me immediately upon my arrival, learned my name and made me feel at home. She and Dwaine were incredible friendly and welcoming, chatting me up when I got to the dining room early for my required coffee. The food was amazing (you get to make the choice between two delicious breakfast options.) The Inn is conveniently located in the heart of OGT and walking distance of anything you want to do and see while in Maine. Would go back and have already recommended the Black Boar Inn to friends.

Very nice B&B. Nicely appointed, gracious hosts and beautiful landscaping in an older, renovated colonial period home. Loved the breakfast every day. And the coffee was excellent, which isn't always so common. The location was very convenient on Main Street (although Main Street is well trafficked, which you can hear being right on Main, but we had a water fountain outside our room, the Lesa Lynn, that lessened the sound of traffic). From the B&B you easily can walk to the beautiful Marginal Way, beach, shops and restaurants. We ate dinner at the Front Porch one night. It was very good, maybe a bit loud, but still able to converse and nicely decorated. Next night we ate at the Cornerstone Artisanal pizzeria with outdoor seatin. We loved that. Pizza and ambiance were both great. At Dwain's suggestion we went to the summit of Mt Agamenticus sunset, which was beautiful! Also, close to Kennebunkport (20 min). We brought our bikes and road along the scenic ocean drive past St Ann's church by the sea and Bush compound to Cape Porpoise, which I'd also recommend. Our room had a private patio with adirondack chairs, which was nice to sit out on if want quiet space and wifi worked well in the room or on the patio. There was also a nice porch and living room for common area, great for meeting other guests. Our bed was comfortable, but a bit creaky; however we were able to solve that with a little mineral oil in the joint between headboard and side panel where the creak originated. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The Black Boar Inn was a great value for the location.

We spent 3 lovely nights at The Black Boar in Ogunquit. The inn was exactly as described, as was the June Room - clean, charming, and comfortable with our own outdoor space to unwind after wedding festivities nearby. Lovely shower in the en suite bath and an excellent breakfast each morning fortified us for the busy days. Each morning we began our day with a leisurely stroll to the beach supplied with morning coffee - 10 minutes for us at most. Dwain and James were helpful, friendly and they made us feel right at home. We will definitely be back for a return visit.
