The space

The Inaba's Kona Hotel is a family run hotel close to town and has been serving residents and visitors alike for 90 years plus.
This 1920's hotel was the "first" hotel in North Kona and is located in the small art & coffee town of Holualoa, a short drive up the hill from Kailua-Kona.
Popular with Europeans and backpackers, this hotel is clean, delightful and will charm those on a budget and who have an appreciation for historical sites.
There is a great restaurant and coffee shop (Holuakoa Cafe) across the street as well as a mom and pop grocery store, post office and numerous art galleries, churches, and gift shops located within a short walking distance from the Hotel.
The hotel is NOT by the beach. It's an approximate 15 minute drive to the nearest beach so a form of transportation is necessary if you're interested in touring and discovering our Beautiful Hawaii island.

We loved the Kona Hotel - very clean, cute, pink, historic. The view from our room and the hallway was truly amazing. The coquis are quite loud at night but you get used to it really fast and we had no trouble sleeping.

Fantastic throwback in the famous tiny mountain village Staci and all the lovely ladies who run the shops there are reason enough for visit But the cool mountain breeze through room 11 after a hot day chasing sharks adds 5 years to your lifespan Little known but true! Mahalos Staci!

The Kona Hotel was my first stop in Hawaii, recommended by a friend who had stayed there, and I was pleasantly surprised by both its charm, history ... and a lovely little calico to greet me on my arrival (plus a Keurig maker in the foyer for my morning fix). Loved the little nooks for sitting, plus the red chairs outside, as well as the pedestal sink in the communal bathroom and the large open window at the end of the 2nd floor hallway. It was the perfect intro to Kona and Hawaii. Thanks!

It is a nice place, very basic but historic. It's clean and the bed was comfortable. It can be very noisy so don't forget your earplugs.

The Historic Kona Hotel is an amazing older building with perfect views. The hotel is in a very nice area tucked in the hills above Kona with a few shops and a restaurant/cafe in walking distance. The hotel has a lot of character. I would definitely stay again.

I am one of the family members of this wonderful 86 year old historic family owned hotel. I enjoy sharing our island home with kama'aina (old timers) and malihini (new comers).
