Old buildings and history lovers, originality seekers, you have found a room for a stay in Bordeaux !
In the heart of the historical center, we will welcome you in an apartment built in the former church of the Cordeliers order, 13/15th centuries

The space

The flat (where we don't live in) which we have recently designed in what remains of the old church, consists of : °on the ground-floor : a hall. °on the first (second for american people) floor : a landing, a kitchen and two large bedrooms with their own bathrooms fitted with an italian shower. For a total area of 65 square meters (about 70 square yards). Some antique architectural elements have been preserved, as best we could. The columns of the former nave of the church dating back to the 13th-15th centuries, wooden floors and beams of the 18th century, the wall paintings and inscriptions from the 19th century. At the same time, very contemporary elements including magnificent metal stairs designed by a local architect have been added. Each room possesses its own identity. °The "grey room" (25 square meters/about 30 square yards) is painted deep grey from walls to ceiling and has been decorated in the "curiosity cabinet" spirit, combining antique and contemporary furniture and lights. Its elegant and cosy atmosphere is created by a "chiaroscuro" due to a soft natural light. It has a view on a walled-in yard with trees and on the beautiful beams of the building itself. °The "white room" (16 square meters/about 20 square yards), decorated in light brown and natural colors, recalls Morocco with its Berber carpets and fabrics, with vintage furniture principally from the 50's and the 70's. It has a view on a walled-in court which has been recently refurbished. The apartment is very quiet which is exceptional for the heart of a large busy city. We must insist that this apartment built in a very old and typical environment with views on planted yards (formerly the cloister adjoining the church) is not very luminous. This gives it a very particular atmosphere linked to its origins. A perfect place for a rest but not for a sun bath ! :-)

Guest access

°The kitchen where you can cook is furnished with a table and two/four chairs for meals. °Extra toilets in the hall, on the ground floor, in addition to those in each bathroom. °Sheets and towels are at your disposal, don't overload your luggage unnecessarily. °You will find some grocery items (organic teas, coffee, for breakfast) in the kitchen cupboards. Not to mention wine glasses and a cork-screw : necessities when you live in Bordeaux ! ;-) (But don't forget : don't mix red and white (especially Sauternes and sweet white wines) wines if you are not used to, your stomach won't appreciate it…)

Other things to note

To park your car : There is no garage, car park in the building. You can try to park your car in the streets of our district, it is free...but often full. The easier way is to park your car in the "parking Victor Hugo", cours Victor Hugo. It is only at 5-7 minutes on foot far away from the apartment. It is paying but safe and practical. Another private car park : "Parking des Salinières", under the pier des Salinières, along the river Garonne. 8-10 minutes on foot far from the apartment.

Awesome flat! Clean, organized and close to the action. Hervé greeted us right on time and gave us a great recommendation for dinner.

We stayed at Herve's place for 4 nights. It was great, a easy walk to all the bars and restaurants but on a nice quiet place. Communications with him was fast and prompt. Check in was easy, and he gave us plenty of info about the city and places to eat. I would thoroughly recommend his apartment. It was a really cool place. Merci.

Herve's house is as good as the pics. the location is great- walking distance to most of the attractions. Super safe. Herve was very helpful at the check-in and check-out. It's a place to stay over again and again!

If you want to see the real Bordeaux, you can't pick a better spot. Not only is the apartment amazingly unique, it is just off a busy church square with cafes and daily markets including a Sunday antiques flea market. A few minutes walk to the easy-to-use tram system. The more you get to know the neighborhood, the more you feel like a local. We are Super Hosts at home and see why Herve is also a Super Host. DO plan a day trip to St. Emillion, about an hour away by train.

Herve's place is awesome. Beautiful restoration in a great part of town. Quiet, peaceful but close to everything. Can't recommend this highly enough.

We stayed at Herve's apartment for three nights. It's a quirky place, full of character, and very comfortable. The area is fabulous, lots of places to eat and drink. Everywhere is walkable. A fuss free stay. Excellent.

Interaction with guests
We live in a neighboring street and we work on the premises. You will better understand the location when you discover the place. The flat is part of a building otherwise used for our professional activities. Thus we are close by to answer your questions. I will willingly advice you on what to visit in Bordeaux and its area. As I am myself devoted to history, culture and architecture, I know and I love my city and its surroundings. As we are "gourmets", we also know the unmissable restaurants of the town. From the bistrot-canteen style with home-cooking, to exotic cuisines and starred restaurants, we will able to guide you !

About Hervé

Blessed inhabitant's of Bordeaux, we will welcome you in our home, and in atypical flats, in the heart of our city, with great pleasure.
Travelling, discovering new places and the people who live there is part of those privileged times in one's life.
The same applies to hosting and meeting people.
An open-mind and an open-heart are, according to me, the most essential qualities to live at its best our journey through Earth.

Bordeaux is an extremely beautiful city.
And it is all the more beautiful since numerous restoration works have been achieved in its different districts during the last fifteen years.
Some works are still underway, here and there, because the architectural heritage of the city is important.
From now on Bordeaux can boast the largest protected urban perimeter for Europe and was declared World Wide Heritage by the UNESCO because it enjoys a first order architectural quality.
But beyond architecture, it is a whole quality of life which makes of our city one of the first French metropolis where more and more people move in every year.

It is now your privilege to discover Bordeaux.
A good start will be to stay in our home, either in a flat designed in one of the oldest buildings of the city (foundation date 1249) formely known as the Cordelier church with its adjoining cloister, or in a loft what used to be a lock-smith's workshop.

Unique places to live in, a unique town to discover.
