Peace and quiet

This home is in a quiet area.

Room in a rental unit

Your own room in a home, plus access to shared spaces.
Stay in the Glen Room at The Glengarry Inn — a beautifully restored 1880s heritage property in Northern Cape Breton, 7 minutes from the Cabot Trail in Sugar Loaf.

The room is on the second floor and offers a queen bed with a private en-suite bathroom. The inn is home to a 19th-century general store that now serves as an on-site museum.

Enjoy mountain views across Sugar Loaf and quiet walks along North Harbour Beach on Aspy Bay.

The space
The Glen Room is your home on the second floor of the inn, warm, private, and thoughtfully put together.

You'll find a comfortable queen bed dressed in quality linens, a private en-suite bathroom with a shower, and everything you need to settle in properly:

- Queen bed with quality linens
- Private en-suite bathroom with shower
- Air conditioning for warm summer nights
- Smart TV for quiet evenings in
- Keurig coffee maker with starter pods
- Mini fridge stocked with your basics
- Fast WiFi throughout the inn
- Hair dryer and fresh towels
- Windows that open onto mountain views
- Self check-in via keypad

Downstairs, the original 19th-century general store is untouched since the 1950s — it doubles as a small museum we love showing guests around. It's the kind of thing you don't expect to find, and don't forget.

Guest access
The inn's main entrance is the far-right door. We'll send your personal key code before arrival: one for the inn, one for the Glen Room.

All of the inn's common areas are yours to enjoy, including the old general store museum on the ground floor.

North Harbour Beach on Aspy Bay is a short walk straight down our driveway; you'll hear it before you see it on a good day.

During your stay
We live right here on the property, so we're never far away. Whether you need a trail recommendation, a dinner spot the locals actually go to, or help finding the best eagle-watching perch on Aspy Bay — ask.

We respond on the Airbnb app within the hour, and we're happy to chat in person too. This place is our home, and we love sharing it.

Other things to note
A FEW THINGS WORTH KNOWING

We don't allow pets, but we should mention that Ben and Quin, our two miniature Australian shepherds, live here and may trot over to say hello when you arrive. They're very friendly and very enthusiastic about guests.

The Glengarry is 145 years old, which means it has all the character of a heritage building, including the occasional sound that travels between rooms. We've done our best with insulation, but light sleepers may want to pack earplugs just in case.

You'll see some scaffolding on the exterior — we're in the middle of a loving restoration. Your room is fully finished and completely unaffected.

THE AREA

Step outside and you're looking at Sugar Loaf Mountain with the Atlantic at your back. Seven minutes up the road, the Cabot Trail begins — one of the world's great coastal drives.

Close by:
- Cape Breton Highlands National Park — 30 min
- North Harbour Beach, Aspy Bay — walkable
- Whale watching (humpbacks and minkes) — Jun to Oct
- Bald eagle sightings along the bay
- Meat Cove — 20 min north, worth every minute
- Alexander Graham Bell Historic Site, Baddeck — 45 min
- Local lobster fishing — the freshest you'll ever taste
- Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter

We're happy to put together a personalised list of recommendations for your trip.

TRAVELLING WITH A GROUP?

The inn has three more rooms: the Cèilidh Room (sleeps 4 with a private deck, 3rd floor), the Piper Room (quiet couples' room, 2nd floor), and the Cabot Room (private-entrance apartment, ground floor). Each bookable separately, all in the same building.
