Stable Cottage is a lovely one bedroom semi detached cottage situated in the grounds of our house, in a peaceful setting with stunning views. It is surrounded by a beautiful garden and animals.
The medieval historic town of Bury St Edmunds is under 5 miles with a theatre and excellent restaurants - which I am happy to recommend if you need details in advance.
The house would suit a couple or solo adventurer or a businessman/lady.

The space
The Old Rectory is surrounded by stunning views of rolling hills and a beautiful church. It was built in 1846 and we have recently refurbishing the whole house. We lived in the cottage whilst doing work on our house and have spent the last few months finishing refurbishing the cottage. Stable cottage is situated 100 yards from the house.

There is an entrance hall, kitchen and sitting room on the ground floor with a double bedroom and bathroom on the first floor. We can either set the bed up as a super king or two single beds, please advise when booking. The bathroom is on the first floor and has a powerful shower over the bath.

The kitchen can seat up to 6 people and has an electric oven, a wide range of cooking equipment, washing machine and dishwasher.

The sitting room is a separate room off the kitchen with an open fire with wood supplied.

The bedroom has a good view and a very comfy bed with luxurious bed linen.

The cottage is situated in a 10 acre sight with a 5 acre garden. There are many mature trees, a new vegetable garden and a orchard. In the grounds is a dog, cat, pony and chickens. The cat, chickens, dog and children are free range.

The cottage shares the main house's garden however there is a secluded area by the cottage for guests to enjoy. There is a small table and chairs for you to relax in.

Please be aware there is an inter connecting door to the adjoining cottage, however this is permanently bolted from both sides of the door.

Please note the cottage has been divided into two properties and refurbished since previous reviews.

Guest access
The cottage has access to the tennis court which guests are welcome to use, please bring rackets, balls and appropriate footware.

There is a wonderful foot path from the church which takes you to a lovely little stream, we have a large village green and little brook. We are close to Ickworth Park (National Trust), Lackford Lakes, Thetford Forest and Nowton Park for walking/cycling. We have a cycle shop and cafe in the village and a playground for children. There is no village shop. The closest shop is the BP garage near the A14.

We are surrounded by fascinating quaint old villages and towns. Bury St Edmunds and Lavenham are full of interesting old buildings, lovely cafes and restaurants as well as weekly markets.

We live in a house near the cottage with our three children and dog. We have just finished renovating our house during which time we lived in the cottage, hence there being no reviews for a couple of years. Since we left the cottage it has undergone a refurbishment with new carpets etc. We have now turned our focus to developing the garden and expanding our knowledge of all things green! We very much look forward to sharing our very special home with you.
