If you want to go a little further, the pretty towns of Offenburg (Germany) and Basel (Switzerland) are at 40 and 60 minute drives, respectively.

Other things to note

Please contact us at least one day prior to arrival so we can make sure the place is ready to welcome you.

Check-in before 1900hrs if possible, it makes things so much simpler for both you and us.

However, it's always possible to accommodate late arrivals! :-)

It happens that we receive overlapping inquiries. We always give priority to the first inquiry. We are also very prompt to reply (within a few hours at worst). However, it happens that, after replying, we do not receive a response: when that happens, if we do not get an answer within 48 hours, we consider the enquirer is not interested anymore and we will deal with the next in line.

The apartment has a wonderful flair. It is very spacious (with two stories); the kitchen is fully funcionable and everything very clean. The heating works great. The stairs to the upper floor with the bed are a bit narrow and steep, so if you have any major knee or health problems it may be a bit difficult to go up; but for everybody with regular health it's fully alright! The house is directly in the centre of the beautiful ancient centre of the village Barr. The great cities Colmar und Strasbourg are easily to reach with a car. Communication with Benjamin was very easy and helpful. I highly recommend staying here!

We loved staying here! Great location, beautiful space and Benjamin was very helpful. Check-in was easy and we really enjoyed the patisserie across the street. The free bottle of wine was a very nice touch! So were the brochures and the shelf of complimentary food. We absolutely recommend Benjamin's place!

Despite a few preparation issues upon our arrival, Benjamin responded promptly with excellent service. His apartment is indeed just as shown in the photos and is a great spot for a visit to Barr!

The neighborhood of the Barr apartment is very nice and many local restaurants within walking distance. There is a Salon de The' across the street that has lovely patisseries and is quite popular with the locals. Benjamin was a cordial host and stayed in contact by e-mail frequently before the trip to ensure there were no problems. The apartment is accurately described and was well kept, clean and basic amenities were provided. Wifi was provided as well as video games that the kids enjoyed from their sleeper sofa. The only challenge for my family, with young children, was the three flights of stairs getting to the apartment and another flight of steep stairs to get to the adult bedroom loft and bathroom. Fortunately, we only did one round trip of stairs per day since we would venture out for day trips to surrounding sights that were spectacular such as Strasbourg, Ribeauville, Route du Vin, and the Haut Koenigsbourg Castle. I would recommend the host, apartment and area for anyone with a love for Alsace and this region it is lovely and a strategic place to see many beautiful things.

Me and three friends stayed at Benjamins apartment for a week this July and was more than satisfied with the apartment. It looks exactly like the pictures, it's very clean and all in all a very pleasant apartment. The kitchen has the basic kitchen utilities and we were very impressed by the 'entertainment centre'. Barr is in general a very nice village and the apartment is located right in the middle surrounded by beautiful cozy buildings. The wine yards are about 5 mins away by foot. I can only recommend staying here!

Overall a very nice property and experience. First, the pros. Benjamin is a super host, quick to respond, friendly and flexible. He's not on site, but he has worked out all the logistics so there weren't any inconveniences in that regard. The apartment is also extremely well-situated in the very center of Barr, and has lots of medieval charm. The views are great as promised, and the bed is very comfortable! And of course Barr itself is a great location for exploring the wine route, Strasbourg, etc. There were a couple of niggles, however. What isn't mentioned in the description is that access to the apartment is up three extremely steep and narrow staircases, with another in the apartment to get up to the bedroom. I would thus not recommend this apartment to anyone with limited mobility (or the heavily pregnant). Also the shower setup is quite strange, with no wall closing off the shower room and no shower curtain either. If you're there with more than just your significant other, privacy could be an issue. The shower itself is also very awkward to use due to the sloping ceiling, which makes standing up in it nearly impossible if you're of average height or taller. For us the positives definitely outweighed the negatives, though, and as long as you know what to expect, I would definitely recommend this property to anyone!

We love to tour Europe and discover new places. We found this little town of Barr, loved it and decided to invest in a pied-à-terre.
