You’ll have the apartment to yourself.
A fantastic apartment by the shore of Loch Sunart on the beautiful Ardnamurchan Peninsula that is blessed with a stunning view south, across the loch, to the mountains and glens beyond.

The apartment’s design makes the most of its magnificent situation, with a floor to ceiling window facing the loch to provide breath-taking views and from where guests can relax and watch the ever changing scene unfold before their eyes. It is great for couples and solo adventurers.

The space
The apartment is decorated and designed to make you feel comfortable on your holiday, as well as provide you with an excellent view of the stunning scenery.

At the front of the apartment is an open plan sitting/dining/kitchen area, where you can sit and soak up the stunning view south, across the loch, to the mountains and glens beyond. In it, you will find a sofa, armchair, dining table and chairs, and Freesat TV with a DVD player.

The kitchen is fully equipped with all the implements that you might need, as well as an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer and a small dishwasher. There is also a combined washing machine/tumble dryer located at the top of the staircase at the rear of the apartment. A supply of eco-friendly products is provided for you to use.

The bedroom is separate, but open plan to the corridor and contains a super king size that can be converted into two twin beds upon request. If you do require the two twin bed arrangement, please make sure that you specify this at the time of booking.

The bathroom, located at the rear of the apartment, has a bath with glass shower screen and electrically heated, over bath shower unit fitted. Ample towels and bed lined are provided for your stay, together with hair dryer and toiletries from Highland Soap Company.

The apartment benefits from oil heating and all oil and electricity is included in the weekly tariff.

Finally, you will find magazines, books, DVDs, local maps, binoculars, details on local walks and a selection of games for your enjoyment.

Guest access
The apartment occupies the entire top floor of an outbuilding that is completely detached from Rockpool House. As it is entered via a staircase to the first floor at the rear of the outbuilding, the entire front of the apartment is made up of a floor to ceiling window looking south over Loch Sunart. There is ample allocated parking and an enclosed patio seating area complete with table and chairs. As the apartment is located upstairs it may be unsuitable for guests with limited mobility.

Other things to note
Change over day for a week long booking is a Saturday, unless a short break is booked when this may alter.

Please feel free to arrive with us any time after 4 pm and please vacate the apartment by 10.30 a.m. on your departure day.

Upon arrival please come to the front door of the main house. If you ring the doorbell, we will come and welcome you and show you to the apartment.

From our doorstep there are numerous walks, from a quick stroll on the beach to a full day’s strenuous climb up Beinn Resipol, a Corbett and the highest peak on the Ardnamurchan peninsula. It affords spectacular views of Loch Shiel, Loch Sunart, the Small Isles and Skye on a clear day.

There are opportunities for both road cycling and mountain biking in the area, from gentle short pleasure rides to long distance marathons to highly technical mountain rides. There are eleven off-road cycle routes in the Sunart Oakwoods alone, ranging in length from 3km to 64 km. Similarly, the Nevis Range and the surrounding area of Lochaber offer a wide range of mountain bike trails.

There are some excellent waters for sailing, kayaking and canoeing. Sheltered freshwater and sea lochs provide ideal conditions for exploring inlets, small, inaccessible islands and getting close to coastal and aquatic wildlife. Couple these experiences with fabulous scenery and you will find it is one of the best ways to enjoy the splendours of the Highlands.

There are opportunities to play golf “highland Style” at Traigh Golf Course, the most Westerly golf course on the UK mainland, which is fringed by a series of sandy beaches and offers stunning views to the Hebridean islands of Eigg and Rum, and the Cuillins of Skye.

The area is blessed with an abundance of wild life and otters, seals, deer, pine martens, sea eagles and golden eagles are spotted regularly. Porpoises are often spotted in the loch near the house, whilst slightly further away, whales and dolphins can often be seen.

There are a number of local artists and from April to October in all the local villages you will find produce and craft stalls. Not far from us are Resipole Studios, a contemporary art gallery with on-site artist studios, where Scottish artists develop, exhibit and promote their work.

After 20 years working and living in Glasgow, I have been lucky enough to move north and west and now live in a beautiful part of of Scotland's North West coast with my wife Lynne. Our home is Rockpool House and offers lovely self-catering accommodation that sits only a few metres from the shore of Loch Sunart on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula in a west highland coastal setting that is blessed with a stunning view south, across the loch, to the mountains and glens beyond. Come stay with us and see that West is definitely best.
