From the minute we enquired about Suma's place she was professional and helpful every step of the way. From helping us with arranging one of the best deals we have ever had on a hire car to maps with places of interest so that we could plan our own tour of Crete. From Suma's place we were able to travel the length of the island. We made day trips to Vai and Intanos beaches in the east and Balos in the west. Every day we were able to see and experience something new. One of the best beaches for us was the closest just North of Heraklion called Paleokastos at only 30 minutes away. More locals here than tourists The house is located in a quiet street opposite a beautiful little church. There are a number of small villages very close by all of which are well worth visiting. On Suma's recommendation we visited a festival in Venerato which was a super experience. The house is well equipped and the bunk beds for our boys 10 and 8 were ideal. We ate outside most days under the shade of the massive vine from which hung huge bunches of sweet grapes. Up the stairs at the back was an orchard with a large range of fruit trees. We arrived late due to our plane being delayed and getting lost 'thanks SatNav!'. Suma waited for us and provided us with all the information we needed. On waking we were treated a beautiful sunrise over the mountains from the front of the house. Whenever we had a question responses were made quickly. One of our favourite places in the house was the reading corner next to a window (lovely breeze) on the upper landing. We visited in August and clothes dried very quickly in the sun. The wind can be strong so be sure to put the shutters on the hooks provided. The wind can also cause quite strong waves on some of the beaches and undertows. This was only an issue on 2 of the 10 days we spent on the island. We enjoyed the waves and were able to find sheltered beaches. Suma and the accommodation were fabulous. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will stay again if we are ever back in Crete.

We have to admit that this was one of the warmest welcomes we have ever received. Susana and Manolis waited for us patiently and when we arrived they showed us around and explained so carefully to us how everything in the house was arranged so that we’d have no difficulties. They gave us loads of useful information about things to see, where we could visit and go on day trips, and we followed many of their suggestions. It was wonderful to sit with them and chat about life in Crete and it really gave us insights that we hadn’t been aware of and which ultimately made our holiday richer and more rewarding. Indeed, from their warmth and interest, one could immediately feel that being hosts was not a business for them but rather a labour of love. The house is rustic and cosy, is fully equipped with all mod-cons, with a tranquil garden and orchard attached where we could be lazy after a long day sightseeing. The position of the house was perfect, right in the centre of Crete, just off the main road and only a short drive from Heraklion. I can give the very highest recommendation for the house as a holiday location, and for Susana and Manolis as wonderful people and hosts. I hope that we will be able to come back and stay with them again in the future.

We were made very welcome by Susanna and Manolis. Susanna took us to the cottage and also showed us around the area; where we could buy bread and provisions; took us to a local restaurant; showed us where the olives they grow are processed in the village. Manolis had left a map showing places of interest which we found extremely useful and which we took with us each day when we went exploring. We were invited to refreshments at their flat in the centre of Heraklion where we were given home-made apple pie, coffee and then a selection of home-made liquers. There are not many hosts that are prepared to do that! The cottage was perfect and had everything that we could need. We were given a bottle of olive oil and were invited to pick oranges and grapefruits from their orchard. All in all, we would highly recommend staying here.

I think Susanne and Manolis are the perfect hosts. Nothing, and I mean nothing, was too much trouble. Sorting out the car hire, then meeting us at the airport at 23:00 and escorting us to the house are just two examples of their generosity and professionalism. The house was exactly as described and was the perfect retreat for our holiday. It's location makes it perfect for exploring Crete, either by car or foot (we did both.) There are no facilities in the village but, as part of our introduction, Suzanne and Manolis showed us where the filling stations, super markets, bakeries, cafes and tavernas were in our area, which ones they recommended and the easy routes between them. There is a winery across the street from the house. The owners are very friendly and their wine is fantastic. Everyone we met was extremely friendly and helpful. Return visits were met like the homecoming of an old friend.

Susanna and Manolis gave us a great welcome to Siva explaining in detail the attractions on offer and taking us for a quick drive around the area to orientate ourselves to the local services. The cottage was an excellent base for us after having been on the road for three months. It is one of the better appointed airbnbs we have stayed in and allowed us to choose to relax at "home" as an option to driving to many of the nearby sites of which there are many. The many nearby villages had all the services needed and it is only a short drive into Heraklion. We had a great eight day stay in the cottage.

Susanna and Manolis are the most hospitable , friendly and helpful hosts ever! The house is absolutely gorgeous and authentic, clean and has absolutely everything you can think of. The yard and the fruit garden are so special that sometimes we preferred just to stay and relax outside instead of travelling... Siva village is the small beautiful village surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, write in the middle of Crete , among the mountains. But at the same time very close to the beach area and Heraklion . The place is a real treat. I really hope to be back there soon.
