Light-filed refuge in the woods. Writers retreat, quiet womb like space; a place for solace and introspective. Deer, birds, nature watching, reading, calm, sweet- heart time.
Near the Cottage, also for rent by the night, but both very private.

The space
During the COVED-19 virus time:
I do accept bookings. I also have been self quarantining March 2nd; my life usually is not that different :-)
I block two days in my calendar after the guests leave to assure extra Coved-19 safety and I wipe down all the door knobs and light switches and most of the things a guest may touch.
Bring your own cooked meals or deli-style food.
I wash all linens in hot water.
Feel free to ask questions.

Welcome to this Bohemian Island House!
ALL KIND PEOPLE WELCOME, no matter what religion-, sexual orientation- or country you are from!
Winter price is $89.- with some higher prices on Holidays & summer season:)
The Home is set near the Cottage.
THINK HYGGE!
It is set among the trees on 3 acres on beautiful Whidbey Island, 2 miles from the town of Freeland (antique stores, grocery store, post office, etc., etc.), about 5 miles from my favorite beach, "Double Bluff", that holds stunning views of the Cascade Mountains, Mt. Rainier, and the Olympic Mountains with miles of walking.
The Small House is a cozy, light- filled and airy space with its many windows and skylights. It is meant to be an adult getaway.
The bedroom has opening windows and a skylight over the bed for a more spacious feel and to look at the stars; it has a feeling of sleeping in a tree house. It has a comfy, queen size bed, a writing desk and chair. There is plenty of closet space in case you decide to stay longer.
The regular sized kitchen is equipped with a large fridge, a gas range, a toaster oven, a coffee maker, a toaster, an electric tea kettle, all the dishes and basic condiments (salt, pepper, sugar, tea, coffee). It has a granite and a butcher top counter.
There is colorful Italian tile in the shower and Ubatuba (dark green with gold flecks) granite on the bathroom floor.

In the living room, you may lounge on the inviting 16 foot window bench seat to take in the open forest view through the 13' window, or enjoy the WiFi to write those long- due letters on your computer.
Have your morning breakfast in the sun room or on the spacious deck and listen to the birds.
This House is for 2 people only that are sharing the queen size bed, even though you may think someone can sleep on the couch, I do not allow it.

Either way, this super quiet romantic place for two will leave you nurtured and nourished by its splendid green views and quiet nature surrounds.
I love how quiet it is here, and how dark it gets at night because we are far away from city lights. Each neighbor has 3 to 5 acres of property, and from mine I can see a little bit of the home of one of them.
I like that it is only about 2 miles to Freeland where I can find the grocery store and post office as well as some stores for treasure hunting or a cafe to sip coffee in on a rainy day.

Side Story:
In August of 1996, I found this lovely property, that before me was owned by Jim, a literal hermit.
Jim hand dug the 300' drive way, he build the Sears kit home, he knew the deer by generation, and he never cut a tree; he burned presto logs. Jim lived there from 1963 until his death in 1995.
Since then, I have brought in power and telephone, added the bedroom and sun room as well as the decks, totally re-did the inside of this home, and created several gardens.
I shall always be grateful to Jim for having set up this property in such a wonderful way.

(And please: do read the house rules! That way there are no surprises for you.)

There are several 3 and 5 acre parcels off our gravel road. We mostly are folks in our 50's or older, it is a peaceful neighborhood.

I am a dynamic woman who has traveled the world and found a pearl named Whidbey Island. I tried to leave once, but to no avail: she beckoned me back into the beauty of her many beaches with views of many different mountains, a community one may only hope for, and the serenity of nature that fills me with solace not found anywhere else on the planet. I am looking forward to sharing this special place with you! Also, this is who I am as a guest: Being a considerate visitor is very important to me. I promise that your space will be gratefully occupied and left as clean as I found it -- no exceptions. I value your privacy as well as my own, which means that our interactions will always be respectful of your time and energy. You can expect timely communication to coordinate logistics, as well as friendliness and warmth from me during my stay. Thanks for considering me as a guest in your living space. I know that many Airbnb listings are located in people's homes, and I really appreciate the extension of trust that makes these exchanges happen. Contact me if you have any questions or concerns about hosting me -- I read house rules carefully, and will always be open to direct communication about your needs or requests (before & during a stay). See you soon! Davide and I have been a couple since 2008 and are experienced and responsible travelers.
