Light-filed refuge in the woods. Writers retreat, quiet womb like space; a place for solace and introspective. Deer, birds, nature watching, reading, calm, sweet- heart time.
Near the Cottage, also for rent by the night, but both very private.

The space
During the COVED-19 virus time:
we do accept bookings. we also have been self quarantining since March 2nd; our life usually is not that different :-)
I block one day in my calendar before and after a booking to assure extra Coved-19 safety and go in with gloves and mask and first sanitize all handles and all the door knobs and light switches and most of the things a guest may touch. Then proceed cleaning the rest, after which I sanitize the door knob again before leaving.
There is a Guest Sanitizing Station, including spray sanitizer, gloves, wet wipes, and sanitizing all purpose cleaner, by the entrance that may be used by you, the guest.

Bring your own food or cook in the House.
I wash all linens in hot water.
Feel free to ask questions.

Welcome to this Bohemian Island House!
ALL KIND PEOPLE WELCOME, no matter what religion-, sexual orientation- or country you are from!
Winter price is $89.- with some higher prices on Holidays & summer season:)
The Home is set near the Cottage.

It is set among the trees on 3 acres on beautiful Whidbey Island, 2 miles from the town of Freeland (antique stores, grocery store, post office, etc., etc.), about 5 miles from my favorite beach, "Double Bluff", that holds stunning views of the Cascade Mountains, Mt. Rainier, and the Olympic Mountains with miles of walking.
The Small House is a cozy, light- filled and airy space with its many windows and skylights. It is meant to be an adult getaway.
The bedroom has opening windows and a skylight over the bed for a more spacious feel and to look at the stars; it has a feeling of sleeping in a tree house. It has a comfy, queen size bed, a writing desk and chair. There is plenty of closet space in case you decide to stay longer.
The regular sized kitchen is equipped with a large fridge, a gas range, a toaster oven, a coffee maker, a toaster, an electric tea kettle, all the dishes and basic condiments (salt, pepper, many other spices, oil, vinegar, sugar, tea, coffee). It has a granite and a butcher top counter.
There is colorful Italian tile in the shower and Ubatuba (dark green with gold flecks) granite on the bathroom floor.

In the living room, you may lounge on the inviting 16 foot window bench seat to take in the open forest view through the 13' window, or enjoy the WiFi to write those long- due letters on your computer.
Have your morning breakfast in the sun room or on the spacious deck and listen to the birds.
This House is for 2 people only that are sharing the queen size bed, even though you may think someone can sleep on the couch, I do not allow it.

Either way, this super quiet romantic place for two will leave you nurtured and nourished by its splendid green views and quiet nature surrounds.
I love how quiet it is here, and how dark it gets at night because we are far away from city lights. Each neighbor has 3 to 5 acres of property, and from mine I can see a little bit of the home of one of them.
I like that it is only about 2 miles to Freeland where I can find the grocery store and post office as well as some stores for treasure hunting or a cafe to sip coffee in on a rainy day.

Side Story:
In August of 1996, I found this lovely property, that before me was owned by Jim, a literal hermit.
Jim hand dug the 300' drive way, he build the Sears kit home, he knew the deer by generation, and he never cut a tree; he burned presto logs. Jim lived there from 1963 until his death in 1995.
Since then, I have brought in power and telephone, added the bedroom and sun room as well as the decks, totally re-did the inside of this home, and created several gardens.
I shall always be grateful to Jim for having set up this property in such a wonderful way.

(And please: do read the house rules! That way there are no surprises for you.)

I am a dynamic woman who has traveled the world and found a pearl named Whidbey Island. I tried to leave once, but to no avail: she beckoned me back into the beauty of her many beaches with views of many different mountains, a community one may only hope for, and the serenity of nature that fills me with solace not found anywhere else on the planet. I am looking forward to sharing this special place with you! Also, this is who we are as a guests: Davide and I have been a couple since 2008 and are experienced and responsible travelers. We are clear communicators and leave a space as cared for and as clean as we found it or better. If we brake something we will let you know and either replace it, fix it, or pay for it. Having Airbnb spaces our selves, we know what goes into creating a comfortable safe space that reflects a sense of wellbeing, as well as the more practical aspect of dealing with linens properly and garbage and recycling. We do not party, we usually are out exploring most of the day and then enjoy a quiet evening of repose, and reflecting on the wonderful things we encountered that day. We can't wait to stay with you, Mandeja & Davide
