The space

The Inaba's Kona Hotel is a family run hotel close to town and has been serving residents and visitors alike for 90 years plus.
This 1920's hotel was the "first" hotel in North Kona and is located in the small art & coffee town of Holualoa, a short drive up the hill from Kailua-Kona.
Popular with Europeans and backpackers, this hotel is clean, delightful and will charm those on a budget and who have an appreciation for historical sites.
There is a great restaurant and coffee shop (Holuakoa Cafe) across the street as well as a mom and pop grocery store, post office and numerous art galleries, churches, and gift shops located within a short walking distance from the Hotel.
The hotel is NOT by the beach. It's an approximate 15 minute drive to the nearest beach so a form of transportation is necessary if you're interested in touring and discovering our Beautiful Hawaii island.

This was my second stay with Staci over two weeks. I️ came back because the hotel is charming and historic, clean, has awesome views, beautiful rooms, and is close to my favourite cafe on the Kona side. Definitely worth checking out.

We arrived very late at night. It was dark so we didn't know what our surroundings would look like until the morning. When we woke up we found we were high up overlooking the Kona coast and the ocean. Outside our room was a veranda, where I was able to sit and play my guitar while overlooking the Kona coast and Pacific Ocean. The building was very clean, our room was very cozy. The building is heritage so it has that old charm that you just cannot get staying in a modern hotel. The rooms do not have their own bathrooms...Not an issue. There is more than one. In fact it is not even worth mentioning other than for someone who is wondering about that. It is the EQUIVALENT of staying as a guest at a friends beautiful home. Very happy that we didn't get into our condo unit until a couple days later so that we could experience this hotel. Until you have woken up in that quaint little town and had that view, you don't know what you are missing. Much better than any view from the resorts in the city area. For further trips to this Island we may just come a few days early again just to stay here.

We had an incredible few days at the Kona Hotel. It was our first few nights in Hawaii and Staci was so warm and welcoming. She gave us tips on where to go, and what to do on this side of the island. The view of the coastline and city was incredible, there was a local coffee festival happening right outside the hotel which was an added bonus to our stay. There's a coffee shop and restaurant right across the street, so after our long trip it was so convenient. However downtown Kona, beaches bars and restaurants are only a quick drive away if thats what you want.

Cute spot. Great view. The walls really are paper thin though.. vacuuming started not long after 7AM and conversations in another room were completely audible.. like they were sitting with me on my bed, also not long after 7AM. Overall great value. Thanks for being so wonderful and helpful at check-in Staci!

We booked the night before, not too sure what to expect. Some of the reasons why we went with Kona Hotel was 1. Affordability & 2. Late check in. Our plane got in pretty late so it was a dark drive up but we found it no problem and check in was easy peasy! Super quaint beautiful old hotel & that first morning you realize that you've woken up in one of the cutest little towns ever! With probably the best coffee on the island just across the street! We were so happy with our 1 night stay that we booked 3 more days for later on in our trip!

I am one of the family members of this wonderful 86 year old historic family owned hotel. I enjoy sharing our island home with kama'aina (old timers) and malihini (new comers).
