Why spend your entire vacation in the tourist belt then take a tour bus to Concord Falls? Stay with us a night or 2 to hike the rainforest, explore the little known falls; eat a forest cooked meal, visit the Amerindian Cave and the secluded Black Bay beach. Rest at our house with its rustic charm, mixing new and old, and where your bedroom opens into a patio filled with flowers and the sound of the Concord river. Buses from St.Georges to Sauteurs pass close by, but do not disturb the ambience.

The space
Each year, thousands of travelers visit the Concord Falls and have to rush away because the tour bus is about to leave and they miss the opportunity to experience the pull and tug of the forest. The impenetrable greenness, the crackling and the silence which make each person more acutely aware of their existence.
As beautiful and haunting and irresistible as this is, too many visitors have to rely on the tour bus or rented car because there is no accommodation in the vicinity of the Falls. We are attempting to change this. We offer a one bedroom apartment with ensuite bathroom and double bed. The bedroom opens onto a patio, with adequate space for relaxing, eating, drinking or lounging in the hammock. The living room is cozy. The kitchen has the usual amenities along with a 2 person eat-in counter which is collapsible and can double as a computer work station.
What is striking about the space though is the mixing of new and old and of the use of recycled materials. From the modern vessel sink that sits on the old sewing machine stand to the bed side table made of an old metal trunk to the rattan chairs made from natural rattan reed to the flat screen mounted on the wall and the swivel bar counter stools. The idea is that visitors would find their medium.

Where you’ll be

Concord, Saint John, Grenada

Concord is easily the most famous waterfall on the island, in fact it is a series of three falls. The first one is reached by car and is by far the most popular. Dozens of tourists visit this fall on any given day. The Fall at Au Coin is spectacular, defiant and rarely visited. The other at Fontainbleu is more hands-on, indeed a charm! Few in Concord know the forest as Kennedy. Fountainbleu fall is located on the 13 acre plot that he cultivates singled handedly. Still he will have time to show you the sights or maybe take you along fishing with him todo night fishing.

I am a backpacker. Through travelling I have gotten to understand the need of travelers to stay at places that are safe, comfortable, clean and moreover at a reasonable cost. I started backpacking 10 years ago. My travels have taken me to North, Central and South America, South-east Africa and the Caribbean, easily 39 countries. I am not new to airbnb either. I have been running an airbnb in North America for the last three years. The combined experience of my own travel and attending to the travel needs of others are my motivating factors in setting up Ocean Place near Concord Waterfall.

During your stay

Definitely. We want to give a total village experience, not just a place to stay. We want to tell you stories about the village, take you into the mountains and show you its most historical, interesting and breath-taking spots.
We are working on reviving a few hiking trails that border with the Grand Etang rainforest. We can take you past the most visited fall to the other falls at higher elevations, at Kenjay and Fontainbleau, without having to rush to catch the tour bus.
