There are several man made beach areas which have been created on the banks of one of the Three Lakes which run through the area. They vary in size and activity offerings, from small beach area with pedalos and bar to full activity centres, which even have zip lines flying across the lake at Sidiailles.

There are lots of opportunities to hire a canoe or water bike, play volleyball, table tennis or just kick a ball around followed of course by a trip to the cafe/bar to eat and drink.

In the heart of the lovely village of La Celle Dunoise on the Creuse river, there is a "Sport and Nature" base, where you can hire all equipment and take lessons. There is also a Saturday morning 6k canoe paddle which runs from Glenic to Jouillat when you are then returned to base by mini bus.
A few kilometres from our house, in a former stone quarry (granite), you will find a diving centre, the Centre Subaquatique de "La Graule", where you can take diving lessons. The atmosphere, the clear blue water, the overgrowth and the fish make you feel as if you were in the tropics. Only the temperature (water and air) feels different.
The Creuse has 4000 kilometres of rivers and brooks and 3000 hectares of lakes. Clearly this is a fishermen’s paradise! The Tourist Board publishes a special fishing guide book and they even have a fishing (or should we say fisherman’s) consultant and school. You can practise fishing in still and running waters. Trout, char, fountain salmon, grayling, pike, zander, black bass and crayfish abound.
This is called the artist's village where 70% of the inhabitants are artists displaying their paintings and other craft in their own houses. There are two cafe/bars and it is advisable you park just before you enter the main part of the village as the roads are very narrow. It is always best to explore this beautiful village on foot.
If you are a history buff then this WW2 Martyred Village is well worth the ninety minute journey a little way past Limoges. It has been preserved since 1944 in memory of all the innocent people who lost their lives as the war was coming to an end.
