Spacious self-contained bungalow (kitchen, bathroom, air con & wood-heater) located in the small sub-tropical village of Burringbar. A great base for exploring the Far North Coast/Gold Coast (35 min to Coolangatta airport & 30 min to Byron). Or simply relax and enjoy our beautiful waterhole & waterfall, only 20 metres from your doorstep! Pop 2 km down the road to the Cafe, General Store, pharmacist, antique store, butcher, bistro & laundromat. Easy access to local beaches (12 -20 min).

The space
Deceptively spacious and comfortable, our fully self-contained bungalow is simple but homely and light-filled. The open-plan living space features a dining table, comfortable new Queen bed, air-conditioning, smoke detector, Coonara wood heater (as it can get cool at night in winter), a new flatscreen TV, video-recorder, and a small library with board games.

There is also a Coleman's stretcher bed available for a child/adult up to 95 kg (and plenty of room for a portacot).

The kitchen has a gas-top oven, small fridge, microwave, pots/pans, kettle, toaster, crockery and cutlery.

Light breakfast provisions are provided - cereal, jug of milk, tea & coffee (and sugar), margarine, jam and spreads, and free-range eggs. You will also find salt and pepper, cooking oil and some sauces in the pantry for your use.

The bungalow also has outdoor table and chairs and undercover carport parking.

It's a lovely space to have a break - on your own, with a friend, or with your partner. Do as little or as much as you want.

Our property features tropical plants and abundant bird life - including our rescue hens - frogs and water dragons. The private swimming hole and waterfall are beautiful, although please note, the volume of water does vary depending upon rainfall. Have a swim or just sit on the wooden deck and soak in nature.

* Children will require supervision on our property, due to the waterhole/waterfall. (The granite steps leading down to the waterfall are steep).

Guest access
The studio is separate to the main house, and is private. You can come and go as you please, entering from the front (via the carport) and the back.

Other things to note
Telecommunications: Telstra mobile coverage is very in poor in Burringbar - Optus is functional. Similarly, wifi coverage is unreliable/weak in the bungalow.

Road access: the causeway can flood following heavy rains, which means we can be cut off. We park a car on the village-side of the road at such times and use the suspension pedestrian bridge to get to our property.

The kitchen stove runs on gas bottles, which periodically need replacement. We endeavour to make sure that there is enough for each visit, but if it were to run out during your stay, please let us know, as we do have a spare bottle.

Please also let us know if you have any issues with your accommodation (eg you can't find something/get it to work etc).

Being a semi-rural property we do occasionally get spiders seeking refuge. If you encounter any, please let us know and we will remove them for you.

Also, please do watch out for snakes.

Additional guests:
The bungalow has a Queen-size bed and stretcher bed, suitable for a child (all linen provided). There is also plenty of room for a portacot for a baby/infant.

Care needs to be taken with children due to the proximity of the waterhole/waterfall to the bungalow (and to access it you descend quite steep steps made from boulders).

Location

Burringbar, New South Wales, Australia

Burringbar means `a good place to find wood for boomerangs' in the Bundjalung language. Despite its proximity to the Gold Coast/Tweed, Burringbar has retained its rural atmosphere and remains a small, quiet village (therefore if you're wanting to be in a bustling area, it might not be the right option for you). Our street is a no-through road, and is generally quiet, (although the kookaburras can be noisy!). The village has a beautiful new café and a well-stocked General Store (2 km down the road), which features local produce, in addition to selling liquor and take-away food. There is also a local butcher, post office, hairdresser, laundromat, pharmacy and Antique store.

The local Sports Club Bistro is open Thursday-Sunday evenings; while on Thursdays and Fridays (from 3pm-6pm). Restaurants in nearby Pottsville, Brunswick Heads, Murwillumbah and Mullumbimby offer a great variety of cuisine.

Just down the road is the cute little village of Crabbes Creek, well-known locally for their Thursday and Friday night dinners at the community hall.

Explore the region's markets and national parks, swim with dolphins and whale-watch - there's so much to do!
