Viña Cristina is a typical country house set in a secluded spot in Grazalema nature reserve. It has a spacious garden with views of the lush Gaidovar valley and the surrounding mountains home to the Griffon vulture. The cottage is just 3 kms from Grazalema village, with its plazas, small bars and shops, and characteristic whitewashed architecture. The area is wonderful for walking and enjoying nature, and there are several places nearby to go swimming in the summer.

The space

Set in its own garden, Viña Cristina is backed by mountains and fields with sheep grazing and beautiful views towards Ronda. It has its own built-in barbecue under the olive trees. You can dine on the patio under the vine looking out over the countryside. There is an orchard, stream and garden with the mountains behind.

In the main room is a large open fireplace, CD player/ books and local maps. The dining area can seat 8.

The bedrooms are comfortable; one double and one twin each with a wood burning stove and decorated with simplicity to suit the style of this lovely home. Bedlinen and towels are supplied.

The kitchen is tiled with Spanish tiles and a granite worktop. There is a gas cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and all kitchen equipment. There is also a washing machine.

The blue and white bathroom has a bath, shower, loo, handbasin and heated towel rail. There is also a hair dryer.

There are hot water bottles and we also supply one sack of logs free of charge for the cooler weather.

There is good mobile reception. There is no internet access, although there is free internet in various cafés and bars in Grazalema village (3kms away).

Interaction with guests

I will be happy to give you any information you may need on things to do and places to go in the area.

Other things to note

The tap water at Viña Cristina is not drinking water. You can buy large bottles of water at the supermarkets in Grazalema, or fill up at the spring fountain on the right hand side of the road to Grazalema (this is drinking water, although not treated).

vina cristina was all we hoped for and more. the house, which seems to be a bit dark at the beginning, is very cozy, comfortable and cool (we had still baking hot afternoons in mid-september). it is rustic and luxurious (nice linen, washing machine, fully equipped kitchen), at the same time. the view down the valley is beautiful and the garden just amazing. you find there herbs, roses, olives, grapes, figs, even pomegranates and two (!) barbecue-places. pretty grazalema, where you have two small supermarkets, lots of restaurants and about five stores with local products, is 2 kilometers away. there's a lot to do and to see in the area. you need a car or a cycle tough, but of course you can also spend your time just relaxing and hiking in the natural park. all in all: a wonderful and truly peaceful place - but if you are extremely sensitive you may dislike the occasional sound of the neighbours sheeps and dogs.

Response from Ursula:
