Idyllic old wooden villa from the 1930s with a magnificent view of the sea. It is a beautiful place to rent for tourists or others visiting this part of Norway.

The kitchen and the bathroom have been completely renovated during the last couple of years and have a top modern standard.

The rest of the house keeps the historic charm with wooden walls and floors.

The property is around 2000 square meters. There is parking space for three cars.

The space
Let me add a note as the owner of this property:

This is my personal paradise! I come here as often as I can...and there is no place on earth that gives me a greater feeling of peace...

Why is that?

Firstly: I am 56 years old and have spent every summer here for my entire life. This was my grandparents' house, built when they returned to Norway after 15 years as missionaries in China in the 1920s and the 1930s. I have very strong connections to this house...and you will see that our family history is very much present when you stay here. As the owner since 2002, I have tried to keep the traditional and idyllic atmosphere.

Secondly: I just never get tired of watching the amazing view from the property. It keeps changing throughout the day. The sunrises are the most amazing, but they require that you get up early. That is...unless you stay in bedroom 1, where you can watch the sunrise from your bed. I tell you: There is no better way to wake up with the person you love! That being said: The sunsets are also fantastic, when the skies turn pink and the moon slowly rises over the opposite side of the fjord as you watch the ships pass by.

Thirdly: It is an incredible part of Norway. Bergen, maybe Norway's most beautiful city, is only two hours away. You can make a day trip driving around the Hardanger fjord. Or you can stay at Stord, and climb the local mountain Kattnakken. Whatever I choose, it gives peace of mind. I hope for you as well!

Guest access
The guests will have access to the whole house with the basement (with the exception of using the laundry machine).
Be aware that bedroom 4 (one single bed) is partly used as a storage.

Other things to note
Stord island is a Norway in miniature. It has mountains, farmland, forests, a small city and a beautiful coastline with fantastic views of the fjord landscape.

It is also close to some really beautiful places. Possible day trips include the city of Bergen (two hours away), the barony in Rosendal (1 1/2 hour away) or the small and idyllic fishing island Espevær (1 hour away).

You can also drive around the fantastic Hardanger fjord as a day trip from the house.

I have space for a small boat in the harbor a few hundred meters away which you may use if you rent a boat.

Location

Stord, Hordaland, Norway

The house is located in a residential area - and most of the neighbors are my relatives :)
However, as the property is rather big (2000+ square meters), you should not notice the neighbors very much. And if you do meet them, they are all extremely friendly :)
