I live on Nicollet Island; this is the only inhabited island in the Mississippi. I am directly across from downtown; the U.S Bank Stadium is walkable or it's easy to catch an Uber. When you are not at the stadium, walk to the historic Nicollet Island Inn or stroll through the historic St. Anthony Main district. The Island is parkland, so you will be able to not only enjoy the busyness of downtown, but also the peace of staying in middle of a park.
I have a parking space available if you chose to rent a car. I have one king size bed in the bedroom, and in the living room, there is a full size futon couch.
Enjoy the bike and walking paths through the Island Park and into Boom Island Park. Horse and buggies also run through the Island and into downtown, starting in front of Nicollet Island Inn.
There are lots of resturaunts and bars within walking distance, both on this side of the river and in downtown; several that have been featured on Drive-ins, Diners, and Dives.
