Other things to note

Plan to stay with us a few days and take advantage of rewarding day trips between Seward, Portage/Whittier to land-locked Matanuska Glacier (ice climbing or walking on the glacier) and see all the interesting and exciting sites in between.
Visit uniquely Alaskan Talkeetna, only a short 2.5 hr drive from here, take a flight seeing trip to enjoy the breath taking views of Mount Denali and opt to land on a glacier where mountain climbers stage their assent to Mt. Denali.
Visiting the Independence Mine on Hatcher Pass, hiking, biking or kayaking on Eklutna Lake or touring Knik Glacier (all about a short hours drive from here) are some of the best kept secrets among the visitors staying in our area.
Going on an easy day trip south, you could visit Whittier and embark on a 26 glacier cruise; stop at the great Portage Visitor's Center with its interactive displays about Alaska and be amazed by hanging glaciers along the drive through Portage Valley. Portage Glacier is accessible via a short boat trip on Portage Lake.
Drive a bit further on the designated Scenic Byway 'Seward Highway' toward Seward, most likely, you will see wildlife all along the way. Seward offers glacier and/or sea life cruises on Resurrection Bay passing through the Kenai Fjords and, if time still permits, plan to stop at the informative See Life Center and Exit Glacier.
Hike, bike, kayak or raft at easily accessible trails, lakes and rivers and explore the greater Anchorage area with its unique cultural exhibits and historical sites.

Brigitte's B&B is the perfect place to stay if you are looking to stay nestled within nature, but close enough to Anchorage and the surrounding sights. Brigitte was warm and welcoming, providing some lovely breakfast items on my arrival. The apartment was beautifully decorated with Alaskan adornments and equipped with everything you might need- hair dryer and products, linens, travel guides, etc. I would highly recommend for a solo traveler or couple!

Brigitte makes you feel as if you are in her home. She is a gracious host. 20 minutes from downtown anchorage. Beautiful little home. No full kitchen but perfect for us. She gives that old school bed and breakfast vibe. We will stay with her the next time we come back. Thank you Brigitte.

Brigette has a very large home, and the rooms are very well separated. The yard and gardens are beautiful. There are good views of the sound and surrounding mountains thru the trees.

We have been residents of Eagle River since 1986 and have enjoyed hosting visitors to Alaska since 1991.
I also enjoy gardening and look forward to May where flowering trees, bushes and wild flowers turn the area in front of the home into a sea of beautiful colors.
