Come and enjoy truly unique boutique accommodation in a captivating old store conversion.

The Old Store is a fabulous blend of 140 yr old character with all the modern conveniences. Built in the 1870's to service the booming gold town of Sandhurst (later to be named Bendigo) it stands just 30 metres from its closest mine. There are a multitude of quirk's and perks to find in the many rooms that make up this wonderfully spacious accommodation including the original kitchen mantle and stove, an internal skylight and even authentic Scottish packing boxes laid as flooring many years ago. There are 5 bedrooms, two bathrooms, two living areas as well as a full kitchen and dining space.

You will feel immediately relaxed and at ease in this warm and friendly house with its two superbly furnished living areas allowing you to spread out and enjoy your stay. To help you unwind there is a small yet diverse library of books, board games and even electronic entertainment if one must.

The Old Store is all about experiencing an escape from the everyday. It's got a cheeky sense of discovery etched into the walls and well worn floors. Sit back and enjoy a complimentary port whilst enjoying the great sound of the retro stereo, whether it be in front of the fire or outside on the spacious deck. The kitchen can live up to most demands for service especially those of the entertaining bent. However there is no pressure to cook with multiple pubs and the city centre restaurants within walking distance.

Easy to find location. House was warm and well prepared for our arrival into Bendigo after dark. Every room was clean and had electric blankets - everything was thought of. Plenty of space and the house was cool and quirky. Thanks for a great stay

The Old Store is a gorgeous house equipped with everything you need for a great stay. Check in was super easy and Cath is a great host - she left us milk, chocolate, wine, coffee and port as a welcome pack which was a nice touch. Comfy beds with nice linen and the house is big enough for a group of 6 or more. I would stay here again!

5 of us stayed in this wonderful house. Cath is a very generous host and check in was a breeze. The location was fantastic, close to town and in a beautiful residential part of bendigo. We particularly loved the spacious kitchen and living areas, the history of the place and the outdoor terrace which is very private with views of trees and chimney tops. The house is a great mix of period and modern features which makes it very cosy and livable. Cath provided everything we needed including some local goodies. Thank you Cath! We highly recommend The House on Barnard

I thrive on finding out about our local area and sharing this with others. Bendigo has so many layers of richness from the architecture, landscape, arts, culture and food that it's difficult for guests to keep abreast of what's on, especially things tailored to their needs.
My passions are experiencing the best of local, going the extra mile and keeping it real!
