Important note: Please read the entire listing including the manual before booking. The yurt has limited amenities and is not suitable for everyone.

Nestled in the hills above the S. Fork of the Payette River, our secluded yurt is circled by tall pine trees with great views and a wrap-around deck. Excellent for star gazing! Relax at the yurt, or take advantage of nearby river access, hiking, biking, hot springs, skiing/snowshoeing, areas, the town of Crouch, and USFS & BLM land.

The space
The yurt is comfortable & cozy, although it does not have plumbing, air conditioning, and only has a small amount of electricity. There is no wifi or cell service at the yurt. For those who prefer a more natural and secluded setting it is perfect for an escape from the city life. Enjoy the peaceful wilderness with close proximity to some of Idaho's best outdoor recreational access.

The kitchen has a 2-burner propane stove, plates/utensils/cookware, cooking basics (salt/oils/spices) & french press coffee maker. 10 gallons of fresh drinking water is stocked before your stay & we replenish for multiple night guests. There is no running water. A dry cooler is provided inside the yurt for your use.

Firewood is provided for the wood stove. To protect our forests, do NOT bring your own wood. During the summer months the yurt gets quite warm during the days but then cools off at night. We provide a fan to help circulate the air. Hopefully you will be out on the river or on a daytime adventure during the heat of the day. There is minimal electrical/lighting so bring headlamps or a flashlight.

The queen-on-bottom/twin-on-top bunk has 3" river mats & there is also a queen-sized futon. Bring your own weather appropriate sleeping bags and pillows

There is a clean outhouse & no shower.

Staying in a yurt requires more effort as a guest. All of our return guests agree that a multiple night stay is a more relaxed visit with opportunity to see the surrounding area. The yurt is an ideal spot for having a cozy retreat with your significant other, and for family and friends to soak up the wilderness. There's a time and place for everything, but if you're looking for a place to have a rowdy party with friends, this is NOT the spot for you. Quiet hours are 10pm-8am.

Where you’ll be

Garden Valley, Idaho, United States

Our location is remote, in the forested mountains. Deer, elk and other wildlife migrate through the area and can often be seen on the surrounding ridges. Two glass windows, in addition to three standard yurt windows provide nearly 360-degree views, and from the large deck, you'll see it all. Soak up morning sun with a cup of coffee, watch the stars, or listen for resident owls.

We have a few full-time neighbors, but most of the handful of nearby homes are seasonal vacation cabins. While homes and cabins are a good distance away, sound travels--quiet hours are from 10pm to 8am. Thank you for being respectful of our neighbors.

We found a slice of paradise in the mountains of Idaho and are building a small working ranch where our family (husband + me + two silly dogs ) thrives on the sunshine, encounters with our neighboring wildlife, and good dirt. We have enjoyed our stays through AirBnB on our travels and look forward to welcoming guests to the ranch.
