Our Victorian farmhouse sits in a pastoral setting on 44 acres in the foothills of western NC. If you are looking for a peaceful low key setting, this is it! We are convenient to TIEC, being only 17 miles away, also 3 airports, with Charlotte at 58 miles, Asheville at 51 miles, and Greenville at 49 miles.

The space

This particular listing, "Nostalgia" is for 1 of our 4 bedrooms we list. We have 5 listings for this property. We are hosting 4 bedrooms. Large groups can book all 4 rooms at a reduced rate or they can be booked on an individual basis. The 4 bedrooms are listed separately as well. Naming these rooms was a little weird and fun for us since they used to be our children's rooms. "Nostalgia", because the twin beds were my paternal grandmother's and I slept in them when I was a little girl. "In the Middle" is literally in the middle of the house! The "Barn Loft" is rustic. And the "Attic Nook" was added when grandchildren came along! There are two bedrooms on the second floor. "Nostalgia" has 2 twin beds and sleeps 2 and "In the Middle" has a queen and can sleep 2. These two rooms share a full bath. The other two bedrooms are on the third floor. The "Barn Loft" has a queen bed and a twin trundle and can sleep 4, the "Attic Nook" has 2 full beds and can sleep 2. These two rooms share a full bath.

Guest access

Our version of Bed & Breakfast is "You make both"! Guests may use and/or join us in the living room and kitchen. Also, our guest can enjoy the sun porch or wrap around outdoor porches with rockers, chairs and swing. We have a fire pit with Adirondack chairs and grill in the backyard. There is a lot of wide open space in the pastures and a creek to explore!

Interaction with guests

We live in the house and are available most of the time. Our goal is to provide a welcoming environment while maintaining everyone's privacy.

Other things to note

Forest City has a charming Main Street with retailers and restaurants. McNair Field is a 2000 seat baseball stadium, which is the home field of the Forest City Owls, a collegiate wooden bat summer team. Rutherfordton is the county seat and nearby Spindale lies between Forest City and Rutherfordton. Lake Lure and Chimney Rock State Park is part of Rutherford Co, as well. Also Windridge Farm, which hosts equestrian events is local to Rutherford Co and TIEC is only 17 miles.

Greg and Karen were great hosts! They were very easy to communicate with. We had to change our expected arrival time a few times and they were very patient with our delays. When we arrived they took time to show us the place and explain any expectations. The rooms were all spacious and well decorated with personal touches added. Very homey and everything was extremely clean. We were able to cook our own breakfast in the mornings and eat it on a table on their beautiful wrap around porch. They provided coffee in the morning, which was amazing to drink while enjoying the quiet peacefulness of a country morning waking up! Their interaction with us was great! They were there for questions, and if we felt like a chat they were happy to visit, but also gave us privacy when they sensed that's what we wanted. If you are looking for a quiet reprieve with southern hospitality and an incredible view then this is definitely your place. We would highly recommend! You won't be disappointed!!

Beautiful home and property. Clean, spacious and relaxing. Very lovely people! Warm welcome and accommodating. I would not even consider staying somewhere else if I were to revisit the area.

Karen and her husband were incredibly humble, genuine hosts. Their farmhouse was a wonderful, peaceful place to be. I loved that they were accommodating with my pups, and that there was a kennel available (even though I did not utilize it) if needed. Their home is a convenient place between several different hiking areas, and not far from town (if need be). I got exactly what I needed by staying in their home: relaxation, and feeling recharged. Thank you!

Karen's place was just as advertised with friendly accommodating hosts. Karen even baked delicious muffins to go with coffee in the morning! The house and room was spacious and comfortable and the surrounding farm was beautiful. If you are looking to stay in this area you can't go wrong staying with Karen.

I went to Seven Oaks Farm for a personal getaway and spent two nights there. Greg and Karen's home is absolutely gorgeous and so comfortable. There was no part of my stay that was less than I had expected. Karen and Greg were excellent hosts and definitely made my stay extremely pleasant. For example, when they heard that I wanted to sit on the porch my first evening there, they lit an outdoor candle and put out mosquito torches for my comfort. I ate my breakfast and lunch on the large wrap-around porch and I enjoyed watching a hummingbird visit the feeder right above the table as I ate. The bed I slept in (Nostalgia Room) was very comfortable. My room, the bathroom I used, and the entire house were extremely clean and beautifully decorated. Forest City, NC is only a 10 minute drive away, and it has a few shops (Pet store, clothing store, hardware store with lots of home decor, antiques store). I enjoyed walking Main Street and eating at the Fountain Grill (in the drug store). It was one of the best burgers of my life! Seven Oaks Farm is a wonderful place for a getaway in the country with gorgeous scenery and a peaceful environment. I plan to take my husband and friends back in the future! Thank you Karen and Greg!

Karen and Gregs house was perfect. Easy to check in to, easy to find, only a short drive from a hidden gem of a town with some nice restaurants and shops. The best part of the house is the porch which is a nice place for a cup of coffee and to listen to the birds in the morning and just relax. This is a type of place to go for a relaxing getaway from city life. We only had one night there, but Karen and Greg were really sweet to us and responded very quickly. The view of the grounds is lovely as well, we walked around a little and took some great photos. Also the price is great. Its just a really rare find and we were lucky to get to stay there.
