Our Victorian farmhouse sits in a pastoral setting on 44 acres in the foothills of western NC. If you are looking for a peaceful low key setting, this is it! We are convenient to TIEC, being only 17 miles away, also 3 airports, with Charlotte at 58 miles, Asheville at 51 miles, and Greenville at 49 miles.

The space

This particular listing, "Barn Loft" is for 1 of our 4 bedrooms we list. We have 5 listings for this property. We are hosting 4 bedrooms. Large groups can book all 4 rooms at a reduced rate or they can be booked on an individual basis. The 4 bedrooms are listed separately as well. Naming these rooms was a little weird and fun for us since they used to be our children's rooms. "Nostalgia", because the twin beds were my paternal grandmother's and I slept in them when I was a little girl. "In the Middle" is literally in the middle of the house! The "Barn Loft" is rustic. And the "Attic Nook" was added when grandchildren came along! There are two bedrooms on the second floor. "Nostalgia" has 2 twin beds and sleeps 2 and "In the Middle" has a queen and can sleep 2. These two rooms share a full bath. The other two bedrooms are on the third floor. The "Barn Loft" has a queen bed and a twin trundle and can sleep 4, the "Attic Nook" has 2 full beds and can sleep 2. These two rooms share a full bath.

Guest access

Our version of Bed & Breakfast is "You make both"! Guests may use and/or join us in the living room and kitchen. Also, our guest can enjoy the sun porch or wrap around outdoor porches with rockers, chairs and swing. We have a fire pit with Adirondack chairs and grill in the backyard. There is a lot of wide open space in the pastures and a creek to explore!

Interaction with guests

We live in the house and are available most of the time. Our goal is to provide a welcoming environment while maintaining everyone's privacy.

Other things to note

Forest City has a charming Main Street with retailers and restaurants. McNair Field is a 2000 seat baseball stadium, which is the home field of the Forest City Owls, a collegiate wooden bat summer team. Rutherfordton is the county seat and nearby Spindale lies between Forest City and Rutherfordton. Lake Lure and Chimney Rock State Park is part of Rutherford Co, as well. Also Windridge Farm, which hosts equestrian events is local to Rutherford Co and TIEC is only 17 miles.

A beautiful home owned by a very nice couple. I wish we were here for an extended stay but we were just sleeping here on the way to Greenville, SC from Boston.

The attic room was very spacious, it was a nice experience to live there while it was raining outside.

Fantastic place to stay. Any of the rooms are worth staying in. It is a very quiet area. You are allowed access to the whole house minus a few private areas of the home. The kitchen is beautiful! Coffee is made every morning. You have freedom to come and go, but treat it like your own home and lock up doors and be quiet when coming back. So relaxing to just sit on the wrap around porch or sit by the bonfire. Would definitely recommend!

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Karen and Greg's home! It was perfect! Quiet and comfortable with everything we needed and plenty to do or to just relax. We couldn't have asked for more. It was like we were at home on vacation. Highly recommended!

We rented the room for one of our workers. Karen is a gracious host and a very kind person. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a beautiful and comfortable stay.

Karen User ProfileKaren is a superhost.

My husband Greg, and I live on Seven Oaks Farm and raised our 4 children here. We love for our children and grandchildren to come and visit. I love hiking in the beautiful mountains of NC TN and VA and traveling roads less traveled. I also love to paint barn quilts. Greg enjoys working with the tractor, vegetable gardening and construction mission trips. I prefer movies and going to plays over TV and Greg enjoys the remote! We enjoy sports and music of all kinds. Our "reads" still come from the local library. We love home cooking and rarely eat out, except when traveling.
